2 charity tops done, Pickels, SHQ Show & Tell

The floods ripped through Texas on July 4th.

On July 5th, FEMA received 3,000 calls from survivors. Only 1% went unanswered. That night tRUMP/Noem fired the people who answered the calls.

On July 6th, FEMA received 2,363 calls, 65% of which went unanswered.

On July 7th, 85% went unanswered.

This is who the Republicans and many Americans are still supporting. I hope they never have to face the same thing....

My honey headed out to foot appointments on Tuesday morning (7/8), then had a LONG appointment at the dentist (many tiny cavities to be filled), before hitting the grocery store and CVS on the way home.  I worked on the Beds=Dreams quilt on my longarm, and also finally got 2 more UFO’s pressed:

I made refrigerator pickles (for the first time) in the afternoon with the cucumbers…can’t wait to try them!

Michael took off super early for the newest Jurassic Park film with Larry, and Iris came over for 3-1/2 hours!!!!  I gave her all of the remaining strips she needs for the 2 quilts and also got all of the squares cut for the prairie points that surround each quilt:

I figure I can press them into points in the evening while watching TV.

Michael left for golf and I SKYPE’d with Janice Wednesday morning (7/9).

When we were done I ran Freya over to PETCO for a bath and general spruce up, and started back to quilting on my Beds=Dreams quilt.  I did intake for a new customer in the afternoon…who brought me THREE quilts to do!

By dinnertime I was finished quilting:

and got the quilt off of the frame so that I could trim it at quilting tomorrow.

We had bratwurst and our first corn on the cob of the season along with macaroni salad for dinner.  We ate early as we were both starving, and played cribbage in the evening before watching a bit of TV.

My honey packed up my car and then left for 2 doctor’s appointments in the morning, and a matinee in the afternoon!

For me, Thursday (7/10) was all about quilting.  It was the second session of my class on the Stair Step quilt and I think my students understood what they needed to do and were well on their way by the time I left at 2 PM.  We also had a wonderful luncheon (having postponed it from the previous week), and excellent show and tell:

-all of the individual blocks shown most weeks are a ''block of the week'' challenge that Kathy is teaching/running

but I was totally beat when I got home.  I was thinking of taking a nap when my honey got home, and we ended up snuggling on the couch and watching cooking shows.

We had a quick dinner, played cribbage, and watched another couple of baking shows before bed.

*** By the way...the pickles are a HUGE hit...Michael said they reminded him of his mom's....I am THRILLED!!!! ***

*** AND...I recently finished reading Trevor Noah's autobiography BORN A CRIME. I highly recommend it! ***

And 10 years ago....

*** Do people who run marathons know they don't have to? ***

*** I'm not great at advice....may I interest you in a sarcastic comment? ***

*** I went to a family reunion and didn't talk to a single person....I have no idea whose family it was, but their mac 'n' cheese was worth it! ***
