Arizona Mary quilt fabric, bike

I was kind of at loose ends Monday morning (8/15)…and even though it was my original goal…I think I was still in shock that all 4 QoV’s are done :~). And I always have kind of a lull after I finish one project…let alone three.

So, I worked on organizing my Corinne fabric, and I started pondering what I am going to use for the Arizona Mary quilt that several of us are doing on retreat. I originally figured out that for the size I want….I need 7 wider cuts of fabric…and 14 smaller cuts of fabric….but since I think I want to make this in a rainbow…and since my rainbow quilts always have six colors (pink-orange-yellow-blue-green-violet), I may cut 6 wider and 12 smaller and then see what kind of borders I will need to make up the difference. I think I have to make one at home to get my directions going….so for those of you on retreat that are doing this….stay tuned!

Michael left for golf around 10 AM…he said he’s going to try to talk the guys into hot dogs at the end…and that will be his dinner before rehearsal again tonight. I pulled all of my colors for the AZ quilt…and this is what I think I’m doing:

Organizing the Corinne fabric showed me that I am WAY LIGHT on purple....something to look for when I go again! I only made cuts in one of the fabrics…I want to test out my quilt math to make sure I’m doing things correctly :~).

By then it was almost time to head out for PT. Our golf cart is in the shop for repair….and Michael took the car for golfing….so I didn’t really have wheels….then I got the bright idea of riding my bike, so on Sunday I asked Michael to make sure there was air in my tires. I know he wasn’t crazy about me riding my bike…it’s been so hot during the day….I haven’t ridden it in ages…and certainly not since my knee replacement…and the way to PT is mostly uphill. I took the dog out at 2 PM…and my ‘’self talk’’ was all about calling someone for a ride. Do you do that too? Doubt that you can do something? Fear something you haven’t tried before? You’re getting old…your body doesn’t always work the way it used to….what makes you think you can do this? Mary Lee and I have had many, many discussions about ''self-talk'' and that sometimes we need to change it! Well, then I got angry and decided that I had a cell phone, and there were at least half a dozen people I could call if something went wrong (of course Anne would come and pick me up if she was home!)….so off I went.

When I got to PT, I texted this picture to my honey:

with the following caption ‘’I am strong….I am invincible….I am WOMAN’’, which of course was a rallying cry for my generation. I felt very proud of myself…and I got out of riding the bike at PT because I had already put in my time :~).

Michael called after I got home…the snack bar at the golf course was closed for the day

:~(…everyone was sad…me included because I knew my honey would have brought me one since I LOVE hot dogs. Oh well, we still had leftovers and he had zucchini lasagna before leaving for rehearsal. I knit while he was gone and we watched a bit of TV when he got home at 9:30 PM.

Uh, Michael, spell check error or Freudian slip? LOVE the fabrics for next quilt. I'm sure once I see it made, I will want to do one at retreat as well...
