Just your daily reminder that the President of the United States openly admits that the 4,000 layoffs of federal employees were done out of spite, not necessity.
Members of the military are lining up at food banks because they did not receive paychecks this week, but at least Wall Street investors in Argentina got a $20 billion bailout.

$200 million
That's the price tag for President Trump's 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House, which began construction in September. On Wednesday night, Trump hosted several high-dollar donors and investors for a "Legacy Dinner" in recognition of their support for the ballroom project.

Michael left for golf Sunday morning (10/12) and after BG and I visited SWEET DOUGH at the end of Doby’s Bridge for yummy breakfast treats…we settled in to work:

The fabric spread out at my machine is for borders on a quilt.
Pat stopped by for a visit and to give me some no show mesh for some clothing embroidery I want to do….and BG and I also paused to watch LEANNE MORGAN’S special “I’m every woman’’, but other than that, we were working. By the end of the day, Pam’s quilt was done:

and BG had the inside of a Stair Step quilt done as well:

Can you tell the small differences she made between the original pattern below and hers above?

Monday (10/13) was another day of errands for Michael (grocery store, CVS, Second Chance (charity shop)) and another day of sewing for me and BG.
I got 3 lengths of 44’’ wide purple sewn together…..for a backing that was 108’’ wide by 120’’ long, and got it loaded on XENA. BG decided to start a KINDRED PINWHEEL quilt with a layer cake she had:

My backing was for a UFO that is at least 4 years old...this is the first quilt I started when we got our king-sized bed!!! I finally got the quilt basted, the program set up, bobbins wound, and kicked everything off:

only to encounter breakage…..after breakage….after breakage….after breakage!
Finally at 3 PM I couldn’t take it any more and I shut everything down :~(.
I just putzed with a few things…mostly my 2-1/2’’ squares I am slowly creating 16 patches with:

until Michael brought us home a pizza and we had dinner. After dinner we put together a Ding Dong cake (have you seen those on PINTEREST or FB??):

and by 8:30 PM it was ready for us all to have a piece….HEAVEN!!!!!

Iris came over Tuesday morning (10/14) to get the next set of instructions for her tulip/butterfly quilt and other than that, BG continued to sew on the kindred pinwheels blocks:

See how in all of the blocks EXCEPT the top right, there is one pinwheel that is too close to the background color and you really can't see it? Well, we tea dyed it and now the contrast is MUCH better:

I worked on my quilting once again. I used sewer’s aid on my thread and spritzed it with water, and loosened my quilt sandwich. I still had a few breaks, but WAY less than before, so I continued on.

Last week at quilting, I finished up sewing all of my strata, so that project is now at home, being cut into blocks ready to go on the design wall...

BG packed up all of her stuff Wednesday morning (10/15), while I got a row or 2 done on my king sized quilt before we headed out to meet Steven. I didn’t want to take her….but all good things much come to an end :~(. It was a TERRIFIC visit and I think we have even figured out sleeping arrangements should I come to Connecticut for a visit next year (as BG gave away my bed several years ago :~).

I was exhausted when I got home (really…she worked me like a dog!!!) and just sat in the living room and read until an early dinner of yoghurt and TV watching with my honey.
And 10 years ago....
