Block on block quilting done, AJ's birthday card

I had an early morning appointment on Saturday (3/9), but I managed to get another quilt labeled (I need to work on my placement a bit more):

before leaving at 9:30 AM. I was home by NOON after a quick stop at Food Lion. I really only wanted a pound of frozen mixed veggies…as that’s all I thought we had room for in the freezer….but they had a pound of PICSWEET for $4.00 and FOUR pounds of Food Lion brand for $6.00, so I couldn’t resist the 4 pound bag…luckily there was room.

Michael headed out (in the rain) to drop off some recycling, and I headed to the studio to baste my first quilt:

I got bobbins wound and the pattern set up and off we went….I was so inspired by the rainbow thread on Diane’s quilt, that that is what I used for this one as well:

I headed upstairs around 4 PM to get started on dinner. The first thing I did was take out dough that I made last Saturday. When we had that company for dinner, I only made one pan of 9 rolls…that meant that the other half of the dough went into a bag and into the fridge….I kept thinking ‘’gotta use that up…gotta use that up’’, but never got around to it until now. I formed it into rolls….and put it in a warm place to rise. I had a bunch of potatoes I needed to use up, but Michael doesn’t like potato soup, so I found several recipes for hamburger soup (that use diced potatoes), so I combined a couple of recipes and started to make that. Michael had previously browned and drained ground beef for me and scrubbed the potatoes….so I was ready to dive right in. We didn’t end up eating until almost 7 PM…mostly due to getting the rolls to rise….but at last, everything was done and Michael really liked it!

UGH…..move the clocks forward….I hate this day (Sunday, 3/10)!!! Literally the shortest day of the year (only 23 hours)…it always goes by in a flash and then it takes a week or more to get used to it…when are they gonna stop changing the clocks!!!

My honey made me a smurfy breakfast:

and I settled in to continue quilting, and working on bed blocks. That’s what I did all day…..and by dinnertime I was finished with the first quilt. We had leftover hamburger soup and by the time I settled in front of the TV, it was already 8 PM….what a wasted day!!!

And AJ's birthday is coming up....Michael made a fabulous 3-D card for her:

*** I have a green thumb…..I got it when I dumped out my kale smoothie! ***
