Candy making begins....WHITE TRASH!, dipped oreos and nutter butters, pretzel toffee bark, sugared pecans, gravy

My honey was out the door by 8 AM Friday morning (11/22) for an appointment with the foot doctor, and I was already in the kitchen, getting ready to start my production of candy making.  I always like to start with White Trash……since I think everyone likes that the best....so I make the most of that and it takes the longest, so that was first up:

I spent all day (literally….finishing up at 5 PM) making it…..I got 2 one gallon bags (for the golf course staff…inside and out) and 32 regular bags all done:

Linda dropped by during the day to drop off some yummy looking pizza slices she thought we might like and we talked for a bit…and I took plenty of breaks so that I wouldn’t be totally crippled by the evening :~).

We had Chinese for dinner and decided on a date night...so we opened some champagne, made some popcorn and watched INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY....which was supposed to be a really cheesy, bad movie, but both of us enjoyed it!

I continued to trim down wonky pinwheels in the evening:

AND…I got a call in the afternoon….with exciting…… stupendous…. unbelievable…. news!!!  BG BOUGHT A LONGARM!!!!!!!!!!

My honey was out the door by 9 AM on Saturday (11/23), while I got set up for a big dipping session. June and her sister-in-law stopped by to pick up that rope and get a tour of the house, otherwise I was bent over a hot microwave :~), melting dark chocolate and dipping oreos:

and nutter butters:

My honey was home around 2 PM, thrilled with his score of 89, which included a birdie. I headed to the studio to load up a customer quilt, unfortunately, the backing was not big enough, so I left a call for them and starting pressing my fabric for a new Beds=Dreams quilt. Leftovers again for dinner, and I think all of my old blocks are trimmed, so I got to give my hands and shoulder a rest....which was good!

I spent the day on Sunday (11/24) making sugared pecans:

and making my gravy for Thanksgiving.  About a decade ago, one of the chefs gave out a recipe for making your gravy ahead of time, and I have used it several times…and it is always great.

You roast all of this stuff before putting it in a pot and covering with water and simmering for 2 hours. You get it all done (and thickened with a roux), and then all you have to do is throw it into a pan to heat it up on Thanksgiving day!

Monday morning (11/25) we were up at 6:30 AM (!!!) to get showers and get on the road for our chiro appointments.  We stopped at Katz’s Deli for breakfast on the way home….and I’m pretty sure it’s where Diane took me to get a great Rueben sandwich quite awhile ago.

When I got home, I threw together some Toffee Pretzel Bark:

before heading to the studio to load up a customer quilt:

This was pretty interesting as both the backing and the batting were made of pieced flannel, but eventually it was loaded up.  Michael spent the afternoon starting to get out our Christmas decorations, including our outdoor ones:

and then we both sat and rocked on the glider on the front porch for about an hour...waiting for them to come on.

Michael and I had pizza for dinner (courtesy of Linda) and watched TV before bed.
