Brrr-r-r-r-r!!! It was 26 degrees when we got up on Monday (12/23)!! Michael had already cancelled his golf for today as he knew how cold it would be…he had his breakfast of oatmeal in the living room in front of the fire.
I spent a bit of time wrapping presents in the morning before cutting 3-1/2 yards of fleece and getting it loaded on XENA. My honey headed out for some errands (the grocery store, CVS, library): where the resident ''dog'' is all decked out for Christmas:
I got the purple top loaded on XENA:
and made good progress on the quilting:
I tried something new with this one. When you’re quilting with a fleece backing, the danger is always trying not to stretch it…..and no matter how gently I attach the side clamps, I always get a bit of stretching when I baste. So I posted a question on my longarm FB group, and got a few answers and decided to quilt it without putting on the side clamps....it was nerve racking, but so far I think it is working out well.
When I went upstairs for dinner, I put my wrapped presents on the tree skirt around the tree:
and settled in to watch another Christmas movie….AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER with my honey.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!!!! Michael made his traditional omelet for breakfast, while I headed to the studio, hoping to make great strides on the purple quilt. I worked on it all day and by dinnertime, it was done:
Michael spent a bit of time ''wrapping'' his gifts and putting them around the tree:
I also embroidered a label on the front of the second quilt I will be doing:
Michael and I settled in with another Christmas movie in the evening…and since we watched AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER the night before, we had to watch SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE tonight! If ya know….ya know…..

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
Michael and I started our day (12/25) with French Toast and champagne, and we finished our first bottle (to be fair, the bottles are rather small) by 10:30 AM :~).
We had opened 2 presents apiece by then, and Michael settled in to read for a bit, while I hit the studio to load up my second quilt:
I worked on the quilt on and off in the afternoon….
stopping to head upstairs….to read and talk with my honey for awhile…to open another present…and to watch JURASSIC WORLD!
Of course we had champagne (with frozen strawberries) and puffy things for dinner (cold shrimp cocktail and spring rolls) and settled in to watch HOLIDAY INN in the evening.
Here are most of the presents we opened during the day:
I say most, because as I told my Machine Embroidery group, AND my weaving group AND my quilting group (as they repeatedly asked over the previous couple of months), Michael’s sweater was NOT done in time for Christmas (I knew it wouldn't be). He loved what he saw of it anyway, and I am delighted that now I can knit on it at night while we watch TV….I’m working on the sleeves now…it’s the last thing….but Michael has very long arms….so it’s gonna be awhile!
Hope your day was as wonderful and love filled as ours was :~).
I'm thrilled to end with this beautiful picture....Michael's cousin is crazy about lighthouses and sent this to us:
And 10 years ago...
*** I started my morning off right with 2 eggs….they were Cadbury eggs, but let’s not get picky. ***
Love the cousin photo ! Thanks for sharing. Quilts and quilting look great !
Sounds like a nice few days with your honey. Can you send a photo of M's sweater ? What pattern, color and type of yarn ? I don't think I've seen it. Stay warm !
huzzah for puffy things!!!!!
