Cookie, 521 BBQ dinner

It was a very mentally stressful day on Thursday (6/22) as we took Cookie to the vet again:

She has dropped another pound :~(. She is just skin and bones and we can’t get her to eat. They kept her until 2 PM….I was trying to work in my studio, but didn’t really get anything done….worrying about her. Michael got a tiny bit of blueberry picking done, even though it was raining:

I did intake on a customer quilt, and inadvertently found out that one of my Tree Tops clients had passed away. It was weird because about 2 weeks ago I had a passing thought that I hadn’t heard from her in awhile, and I knew she had other quilts she wanted to get done for her grandkids. I don’t know what happened, she didn’t have any obvious signs of illness the last time I saw her (yes, I know that doesn't mean anything). We had gotten a little close over the time we knew each other. I spent a couple of days at her house, teaching her how to do one of her more intricate quilting patterns...and she spent the day here, using my design wall to lay out a huge, modern quilt for her grandson. She was always up for learning something new. Ya just never know…

When we went to pick Cookie up, they told us she has an infection in her liver, making her nauseous and causing diarrhea. So, in addition to the 5 pills she is already taking…..we have 4 more pills per day to give her. She was dehydrated, so they infused her with saline solution….which looks like a big bag of liquid under her skin. The doc said she will absorb it over 24 hours. They gave her a shot for nausea (as well as pills to take home) and the shot definitely worked as she was ravenous when she got home. Cookie really is amazing….no matter how bad she is feeling, it doesn’t seem to affect her attitude and demeanor.

Michael and headed out to 521 BBQ (we haven’t been in forever) and had a lovely dinner:

followed by a round of playing RUMMY-O at home….and I think Michal liked it much better than last time.

It was light enough when we got home to see our visitor again...this is a fledgling red tail hawk...and just looks majestic up close...wish I had a better ZOOM on my phone:

*** At my age I’ve seen it all, done it all, heard it all…I just can’t remember it all. ***

Poor Cookie, what everyone is going through! It's so hard to concentrate when a loved one is sick!
