Cookie December 2011 - July 2023

I know all puppies are cute....but this face was absolutely adorable:

How could we possibly resist that face when we saw her at the shelter? She rode home in my arms and was an absolute joy for 3 days, until she went in the hospital with the parvo virus. What a frightening week, as there is nothing the vet can do but provide fluid and support, and hope that the dog can fight it off by herself. She proved her mettle right then and eventually came back home to us, full of the energy that Jack Russells are renowned for.

She learned early in her life where good extra morsels might be found:

And was always up for any visitors to the house:

-check out those trademark lady-like crossed legs

She loved watching golf with her dad:

and although it took awhile to warm up to Elsie:

Eventually they became snuggle bunnies:

-although this pic definitely looks like ''why is she always lying on me''?

Cookie was a fairly patient model when I would finish a new hat for the shelter:

and a champion sleeper, always trying to find the softest place to land:

Cookie slept in a crate at night, but after going out first thing in the morning, she would race to our bed, and roll around in the covers and finally snuggle underneath for another hour or so, as long as one of her humans was still there.

But her favorite, favorite place of all time, was anywhere with dad:

She was a wonderful pumpkin and very much loved and she will be sorely

missed :~(.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My heart is breaking with yours💔. My tears are flowing with yours😢. You both had a huge impact on her life and loved her almost as much as she loved you (nothing matches a dog’s love). I am sure you are giving your kitties extra love and hugs as you all go thru this mourning time. Thinking of you and sending healing vibes…
