Cookie, ice box cake, pierogi's

Sunday morning (7/31) found us on the road to Matthews, taking Cookie to the emergency vet there….she threw up Saturday night, wouldn’t eat any food (for a couple of days)…has had diarrhea and in general, was just punky the whole time we were watching the movie. So, we signed in and paid our initial $195 fee, and then proceeded to wait for an hour….(here she is…hiding behind dad on the bench):

After an hour we headed out to find out when we might be seen (when we got there, there was only 1 person ahead of us). The answer was…maybe in 2 – 3 hours!!! They had a bunch of people come in after us, with bigger pet emergencies. By this time Cookie was running all around….seeming like her normal self. We got a refund of our entry fee, and they gave us a list of pet urgent cares in the area, and we came on home. Cookie seemed PERFECTLY normal….gobbled down a small breakfast (we didn’t want to overload a very empty tummy with too much food) and another diarrhea pill and seemed perfectly happy!

Michael and I had breakfast, and he cleaned up the kitchen and then we both decided that we were tired…and both took a nap! He headed downstairs after that to do his emails….while I stayed in the kitchen to make an ice box cake for his dessert…..ice box cake is 3 layers of graham crackers, separated by 3 layers of homemade chocolate pudding (which only takes 15 minutes to make!):

I hope it is cold and set up by dinnertime!

After that I headed downstairs as well and got my blog out, before firing up Xena again. By the time I stopped for dinner, the first quilt was done:

Before Michael left to go upstairs, he gave me a big hug and a kiss (an added bonus as we were not allowed to kiss during the 2 weeks of antibiotics for the stomach stuff!!) and told me how nice it was to see me back to doing ‘’normal’’ things again :~).

Michael made pierogi’s for dinner:

and they were yummy!

We watched a bit of TV before having dessert:

*** I just saw 3 people jogging outside and it inspired me to get up and close the blinds. ***

Glad Cookies better, those emergency vets are tiring, sign in and wait, but they have totake the real emergencies first. So hard to know what’s up with your fur babies. We got back from our walk toasty and Quincy’s front left paw is bleeding, no idea how that happened.

im very glad to see your getting back to your normal routines too!
