While 2 of my babies were soaking up the sun:
I got Elephant Chicken Soup in the crockpot Monday morning (1/9), and it will be an experiment. This soup was not written as a crockpot soup, and originally I was going to do all of the sauté-ing before throwing everything together, but I ran out of time….so, I just threw everything in raw….including a giant frozen chicken breast….I’ll let you know how it all comes out.
What with one thing and another I had to do, I didn’t get to my studio until 11 AM. Then I had to get my blog out, so I didn’t end up starting to quilt until NOON. I hadn’t gotten very far when my honey brought me a smurfy breakfast:
and while eating it I got sucked into watching all of the interviews with Prince Harry that I had taped.
Eventually I tore myself away from the TV and got the last rows done on the quilt:
I had to babysit it, as there was some puffiness, but it was not too bad. I need to get it off of the frame and trim it, but first I had to have some workspace, so I finally finished the 24 more blocks I had cut for the new project, and got them up on the design wall:
I have always loved pinwheels, and haven't done any in a long....long time....so when I saw this quilt, I knew I HAD to do it! These are only half of the blocks I need, but I will finish up the men's on point before I cut the rest of the strips and make the blocks. While I was working, I had company:
By then it was late afternoon and I just had time to get the quilt all ready for my customer when it was time for dinner. I took the chicken breast out and shredded it....easy, peasy...then put it all back into the soup. We both liked the soup…but it definitely didn’t taste like the Elephant Chicken I remember, so we won’t be putting that particular one in the crockpot….I’ll go back to doing it in my Dutch oven.
