Cookie scare, LLB dinner

Cookie gave us quite a scare on Wednesday morning (12/21)….she’s had diarrhea for a couple of days (that happens far too often), but in the morning she also threw up. And she just wouldn’t settle down in any one place or position…..you know downward facing dog from yoga? Well, she kept doing that with her front legs and front half of her body down on the ground, and her butt up in the air….we’ve NEVER seen her do that! I called the vet and we were able to take her down immediately and drop her off. Michael headed out to golf after that, and I headed to my massage, but only stayed for half an hour so that I could pick her up before their NOON closing time. Seems Cookie has pancreatitis :~(. She is in a lot of pain, so they gave her a pain shot immediately, and gave us 3 more to take home. She is to fast all day today, and we need to go back on Thursday for a follow-up. They gave her sub-cutaneous fluids because she is dehydrated, and she will get more fluids on Thursday. We were both afraid it was going to be life threatening based on her behavior, but luckily the doctor thinks she will recover without incident.

When I got home with her, I wanted to go downstairs and sew, as I feel like I haven’t been in the studio in days…but I just didn’t want to leave her alone. So, I decided to stay upstairs just snuggling her. Now here’s where the weird thing happens…I ended up spending TWO HOURS on the phone with Rich Hooper (high school best friend)! I am not sure we’ve ever even TALKED on the phone since college…..we exchange emails once in awhile and he used to read the blog, but I got to snuggle my puppy for 2 hours and talk to him…it was lots of fun….we talked about so many different things and laughed a lot! Eventually we said good-bye and my honey came home from golf, claiming he played 16 good holes (oops!) and we got cleaned up and headed out to Red Rocks for dinner with a group of friends:

Our dinners were great…and thanks to a neighbor who had brought us a huge bundt cake on Tuesday, we invited everyone back to the house for cake and homemade Bailey’s:
