Cookies (and cake) with Iris, celebrating Michael's birthday

Writer's picture: dreamsoapsdreamsoaps

Saturday (2/8) was all about cookies (and cake!) with Iris!  She came over and we tried a new rolled out sugar cookie recipe:

and experimented with the icing (aren't they pretty?):

She did so much of the work that we also got Michael’s birthday cake made:

and frosted:

She left around 1:30 and I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and reading my library book.

Sunday morning (2/9) we got to SKYPE with AJ, and then I got busy using up some leftovers….I had some pie dough left…and some limp broccoli that I revived in ice water….and some old-ish chopped onion….and some frozen cheddar cheese…..so voila:

Michael headed out for a bit of grocery shopping and by the time he got home, the quiche was all baked:

We both had a serving and by early afternoon I was back in the studio, cutting the last strips and rectangles for my 2 men’s quilts, and I made a start at cutting the sashing type strips.  That is going to take awhile….since the first quilt that I will be doing on Thursdays takes 18 1-1/2’’ strips…and the other quilt that I will be taking to QUAP needs 272 strips 8’’ by 1-1/2’’.

I headed upstairs for a shower around 5 PM and some company arrived at 6 PM to have cake and coffee to celebrate my honey’s birthday:

-Ann Mary & Jim

-Phil & Gale

-birthday GIRL and BOY, Pam & Michael

We had a good time talking for over an hour, then everyone left to go home and watch the SUPER BOWL!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY HONEY!!!!  Michael’s sister Sue and hubby Charlie called Monday morning (2/10) to wish him a Happy Birthday and to chat a little….then it was present opening time:

I think he loved all of his gifts and we’re planning a date night over the weekend to watch WALL-E!

After that I headed to the studio to stop procrastinating and start quilting on a customer quilt:

This quilt is so stunning and I really think it should be custom quilted…which accounts for some of my procrastination, but the cost of that is quite prohibitive….so I’ve got it to do an edge-to-edge.  While that was stitching out:

I also got a backing put together (from stash no less!):

for the WALK ABOUT that will eventually be going to Janice’s to be given away.

We had champagne and puffy things for dinner, then Kay & Pete came down for cake and ice cream and lots of talking as we haven't been able to get together for quite awhile

And 10 years ago......

*** So my neighbor knocked on my front door at 3 a.m.  3 AM!!!  Luckily I was already up, playing the bagpipes. ***

*** Instead of cleaning my house, I just watch an episode of "Hoarders," and think, "Wow!  My house looks great." ***

*** The Amish power ball is up to 4 dozen eggs! ***

Michael's birthday cake looked great! Michael and I have something in common; I received "Does This Taste Funny" for a Christmas present! I love Stephen and Evie Colbert!
