Rep. Jonathan L. Jackson:
During Black History Month, on the very same day I stood as Co-Chair of the National Prayer Breakfast calling this nation toward unity, humility, and moral clarity, President Trump shared a racist meme depicting President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as jungle apes.
Let’s be absolutely clear: this is not humor. This is not politics. This is racism, raw, ugly, and dangerous.
Deb: I have given up trying to figure out why people still support him (actually, that's not true....it's because they are as insecure, bigoted and hateful as he is)...and I agree 100% with this: If you call yourself a Christian and can reconcile your faith with the idolatry of racism, cruelty, and corruption, something is deeply broken. The Jesus I follow does not baptize hatred or bow to power. Scripture warns us about deception that looks like strength but bears rotten fruit.

I got this comment on the last blog:
''Love the batik quilt. Will you share pattern measurements, strip piece sizes, etc ?
Thank you'' signed dar.....but I don't know who this is. If you tell me who you are (email?), I'd be happy to send the info, although I did post a comment back. My email is:dreamsoaps@aol.com.

I got artisan bread dough made on Tuesday morning (2/3) before heading to the studio…and I continued with my quilting, Iris had a bit of time, so she dropped by and got all of the strips cut and sewn together for her vertical sashing:

When I walked upstairs with Iris as she was leaving, I found out my honey bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers:

I continued to quilt after she was gone and by dinnertime, I was done with my arrow quilt.
Michael headed out to his Mustang Club meeting and I spent the evening reclaiming fabric from my last 2 quilts. I have a PILE of unclaimed fabric I have been ignoring, but hope to start doing that once I’m finished with the current stuff….then I hope to keep up with it as I do each quilt. That is the good thing about doing customer quilts….I get to give back all of that stuff :~).

I video chatted with Janice on Wednesday morning (2/4) before having a bite of breakfast and starting a label for my QoV:

I also need to make half red/half blue binding to go around the quilt….so I worked on cutting those strips (so that I can make the binding at quilting on Thursday. It's not my favorite thing to do, and it seems much more pleasant to do with everyone at quilting!) I spent the afternoon piecing a backing so that I could load up another of my quilts:

At 5 PM, we picked up Gale & Phil and headed to JUNIPER GRILL for dinner….I had the shrimp/crab enchiladas:

while Michael had the crab cakes:

Our meals were EXCELLENT and we each brought home leftovers. We haven't seen Gale and Phil in a long time, so it was lovely to chat with them and we were so glad they suggested going out to dinner!
I continued re-claiming fabric while we watched TV for the rest of the evening.

Thursday (2/6) was all about quilting…we had show and tell:

-of course you know I LOVE this one!

-2 more people finished their block-of-the-month tops:

and I did get a new purse and decided I should show that as well. I mentioned that anyone who knows me well, knows that I don’t like to leave my house…and my new purse PERFECTLY expresses my feelings:

The only thing that could be better was if it said ‘’I put down my quilting or piecing to be here’’, but I read a lot too, so I just love it. I got a bit of a second wind when I got home and got 4 passes done on my latest quilt:

which is good because I picked up 2 customer quilts at quilting.

My honey got breakfast sandwiches for us at SUMO Friday morning (2/6), then took off to pick up our living room chairs. The covering of the chairs was perfect....but they really sagged when you sat on them, so I had to get new outside stuff as well.....OMG!!! I wish you could see them in person...the color is INCREDIBLE!!! I think I would call it a peacock blue:

I think I am finally done spending $$$, except the upstairs really should be painted....but I'll think about that for awhile.
I hurried downstairs, hoping to finish off the quilting on my latest quilt. I worked on that all day:

and started to get the binding on the arrow quilt:

While I am working, I generally watch TV.
I’m working my way through a show called SHETLAND right now….which according to my knowledgeable friend Diane, is in the Hebrides (Scotland)….and I know a lot of my friends will remember the Hebrides from a CALL THE MIDWIFE Christmas Special some years back (with Sister Monica Joan and the white stag she was desperate to see)!
Anyway….I AM DEFINITELY LIVING IN THE WRONG COUNTRY!!! Shetland seems a desolate place….with miles and miles of countryside and not a building or a person to be seen (much like Iceland). So, I’m watching this show…and in the middle of NOWHERE….on the side of the road….they have a CAKE FRIDGE!!!!!!! And it is just like it sounds….it’s filled with cakes and cupcakes to buy….based on the honor system…..truly…on the side of the road….in the middle of nowhere!!!!! Doesn’t that just sound perfect??? You’re driving and driving…and suddenly, on the side of the road….is this glass fronted confectionary dream! Something to think about for our next vacation :~).
Anyway, by dinnertime, I was finished quilting:

AND, had my first TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT of 2026:

Michael thought since we are going to be home for the next 3 evenings in a row…and since we just saw Ian McKellan on the Late Show….it would be an ideal time to re-watch the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, so we watched THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING while eating our restaurant leftovers along with a loaf of artisan bread I finally got baked:

And 10 years ago.....
*** Sometimes the thoughts in my head will get so bored that they'll go out for a walk....through my mouth! This is rarely a good thing. ***
*** We are all brave in our own way....I, for example, am not afraid of raw cookie dough. ***
*** Saw a chameleon today....so I'm assuming it wasn't a very good one. ***

All of the Show and Tell was marvelous! Again, such talent! Your dinners looked amazing and delicious. I love the color of your chairs. Your first quilt of 2026 is GREAT!
LOVE the recovered chairs! Can't wait to see them in person...
Such wonderful memories!!
