Fiber Nutz meeting, Chinese Cooking class, SHQ Show & Tell

America for sale....again!

Rapper Nicki Minaj posted a picture of President Trump's "Gold Card," a new immigration visa that allows wealthy foreigners to pay $1 million to expedite their application.

Wonder where that million will end up (like anyone really has to ask...)?

I was up early on Tuesday (1/27) to get cookies baked (peanut butter and almond sugar cookies):

for the Fiber Nutz meeting I’m hosting in the afternoon.

After that I hurried to the studio, hoping to finish the quilting on my QoV.  I got that kicked off, then spent a frustrating hour trying to do quilt math for a project I’m working on at quilting on Thursdays.  I’ve finally decided I just have to lay it out and see where I am, before I can write instructions and really know what size it is going to be :~(.

My quilting was done, and I got all of my food set out:

before my guests arrived at 1 PM:

-Marilyn & Karen

-Terri

-Rosalie & Pam

-Carol & Melanie

What a lively group we had!!!  Lots of talking…the volume got quite high at several points as 4 different conversations were occurring at once :~)!  Most of the group left around 4:30, but Pam R stayed until after 5 PM.

Michael had a quick dinner of shrimp before taking off for the movies…and I continued to clean out baskets in the TV room while watching CHICAGO MED episodes.

Wednesday (1/28) was move, move, move from start to finish!  I video chatted with Janice in the morning…although Iris stopped by to pick up 2 things I found for the girls in the baskets I am cleaning out….I wanted to learn how to do an ‘’in the hoop’’ project, so several (many!!) years ago, I made these small in-the-hoop change purses.  Being who I am, I made 10 of them.  I gave some away at the time, but still had some left….so Iris got 2 for the girls:

and the rest were donated to SEW MUCH FUN to sell for their charitable efforts.

After that, I took off to get my hair done…and had a fun surprise when birthday Pam showed up to get hers done as well :~).

Then it was off to my massage.  I had 1-1/2 hours when I got home, and I got my quilt off of the frame and all of the ends woven in:

before leaving with my honey for a cooking class on Chinese food.  Here’s what we made:

We had so much fun working on everything:

And the food was absolutely scrumptious:

-scallion pancakes....

=shrimp fried rice

-sugar snap peas

-sesame chicken

Thursday (1/29) was all about quilting, with lots of show and tell:

There was one special show & tell I want to talk about. Several weeks ago, Linda showed this quilt and asked if it needed borders:

I said "YES"! Definitely a white border and then a black one. She put the white one on, and decided to just bind in black...and here it is...she is donating it for a dialysis quilt:

I stopped at Kathy’s (Machine Embroidery friend) on the way home to borrow one of her flower disks…and to give (asked for) advice on 3 of her quilts.  I was finally home by 4 PM, and got in a couple of hours of cutting and sewing on a new QoV before stopping for fish sandwiches from ARBY’s, and watching a Diane Keaton movie in the evening.

*********************************************

My honey headed out early for grocery shopping on Friday (1/30) and Iris arrived for her delayed quilting lesson.

She is starting to put sashing in between all of her blocks:

and we both think she found the PERFECT fabric for sashing….and we also hope to use it for a wider border and binding.

We finished up around 11:30 AM and I took off to have lunch with Jan H:

I know.....I'm terrible at taking selfies! We haven’t seen each other since the beginning of December and had a lovely lunch, then talked and talked and talked!!  It was a wonderful visit, and I plan to go back on a regular basis.

I was home by 4:30PM (traffic was CA-RAZY coming home) and headed to the studio to finish up cutting on my strata for a retreat project.

I originally couldn’t face cutting all of the strips that I needed, so only cut half.  I now have ALL of them cut and bagged up:

Jan and I ended up getting the same chicken/ranch/bacon flat bread for lunch….and I had leftovers and she sent her leftovers home with me, so dinner was easy-peasy!

And 10 years ago...

*** One day I'll do amazing things! Today I'll be satisfied if I manage not to spill food on my boobs. ***

*** My bed is a magical place where I suddenly remember everything I forgot to do. ***

*** I don't get nearly enough credit for the things I manage not to say out loud. ***
