The Trump administration is releasing more than $5 billion in long-delayed FEMA disaster aid, though several Democratic-led states where the president has clashed with governors will not receive funds, several sources told CNN. States depend on the money for recovery and mitigation, but over $14 billion had been stalled amid strict Homeland Security spending rules. While more than one-third of that backlog is now being released, a handful of states — including California, Illinois, Minnesota and Colorado — are being left out, raising new concerns that the administration is playing politics with critical emergency assistance, the sources said.

I spent Monday morning (2/23) at the library craft group, and finally made (what I hope!) is a good start on my secret project. I have definitely noticed an increase in arthritis pain in my hands over the past 2 – 3 weeks and am hoping to keep them moving by having an ‘’idiot knitting’’ project to work on…you know what they say ‘’motion is lotion’’.
When I got home, I spent time getting a blog entry out before dropping back to my HST project. I worked on that all afternoon, and by dinnertime, all of my blocks were complete…I can’t wait to lay them out on Tuesday.
We had Chinese for dinner and watched another 3 episodes of DARK WINDS. These are based on books by Tony Hillerman, set on and around a Navajo reservation at the Arizona/Utah border, that I read and enjoyed years ago…so it is interesting to see them come to life.

It was freezing again on Tuesday morning (2/24) when we got up, and I spent a bit of time getting out quilting minutes before getting to layout my blocks:

Is that crazy or what?!?!?! The only problem? I was 3 blocks short :~(.

So, that took up the rest of my morning…trying to find enough blending type fabrics, and to sew together enough scraps to have the parts to make up 3 more blocks.
Iris stopped by and we went over all of her new fabric and decided on a pattern for her Easter quilt.
By then it was time to get changed and head off to my Fiber Nutz meeting. I LOVE this meeting and these women:
-Marilyn & Karen

-Kathy

-Melanie & Rosalie

-Pam R

-as usual, Rosalie & Pam were spinning

-Kathy had a lot of show & tell

-Karen got started on needle felting a rabbit

We had a wonderful time and I didn’t get home until just before 5 PM!!!
My honey and I had dinner, then he took off for the movies, and I headed back to the studio and got 3 more blocks cobbled together:

My honey made his traditional omelet before leaving for golf on Wednesday (2/25) even though it was still FREEZING!!!
Iris stopped by as her Valentine’s backing fabric had arrived and I wanted to go over how to sew it together. She got that all done, and loaded it onto XENA:

and I got batting measured and cut and loaded with the top:

It is all ready to go…maybe on Thursday, but more likely, over the weekend!
The rest of the day was spent making 1 (that is only ONE) block!!! I saw a picture of a block on FB which was totally cool, and I decided to try making it:

I still love it, but you can be assured that I will not be making any more, any time soon! Those HST’s are only 2-1/2’’ unfinished and there are 16 of them in the block….WAY TOO SMALL for me…even though the block is way cool!
By then it was dinner, and I wanted to get some bread made….I’ve wanted to make English Muffin Bread for-e-ver…and finally made up 2 loaves. I took one into Cindy (at quilting) as a small thank you, and we kept the other one….it was excellent. Toasts beautifully and the crust gets crispy…there are nooks and crannies…and even a bit of cornmeal on the outside!

Michael packed my car on Thursday (2/26) and was still at the doctor’s on time for his 8 AM appointment. It was such a lovely day…..Diane was back…Vielka was back…Carolina was back…and the group was excited and talkative. Someday I need to remember to take a short video of the room so that you can get the energy and vibe that occurs every Thursday! We had lovely show and tell:

And I stayed until 2:30 and now have 4 rows of my ‘’Thursday project’’ put together and I am loving how it is turning out :~). We had a surprise guest…Susie B came back for a visit and it was just like old times!
I really always have the best of intentions when I come home…I am always happy and fired up to be creative after seeing what everyone is working on….but it’s one of those ‘’spirit is willing but the flesh is weak’’ situations….I sit down in the living room for ‘’just a moment’’….and that’s all she wrote! I was a solid fixture in my chair, reading my book and contemplating a nap! I heard from Cindy and she LOVED the ''muffin'' bread!
We finally had dinner, played a little cribbage and watched TV while working on the secret project. You can just assume I’m going to be working on it most nights…..as it’s going to be months before you see it!

*** Getting older is just a constant series of questions….
-where are my glasses?
-why did I come in here?
-where did this bruise come from? ***
*** Don't worry about getting older....you're still gonna do dumb stuff....just slower. ***
*** 90% of the things I worry about never happen....see, worrying works!! ***

What channel is Dark Winds on. I’ve read a lot of Tony Holman too.
You have a vibrant life!!!
I just love watching Iris “bloom!”
