Michael left for golf here at SCCL on Saturday morning (12/18)…no perfect omelet for him as he had no way to cook it…so he just made oatmeal in the microwave. I spent the morning in the studio, ironing my recently re-claimed scraps and cutting them down into the sizes I need:
A new different guy showed up around NOON with a new stove….the first thing he did was take the old one away, and bring in the new one (pay attention to that yellow hose):
and the next thing he did was ask me what was wrong with the old stove. I explained that the electric panel wasn’t working, and then went into my spiel about the gas smell. The first thing he did after that was he ‘’painted’’ the yellow gas hose that goes from the wall to the back of the stove.
This is not a new hose…it is the same one I had with my old stove….both guys were chattering away in Spanish, but the next thing that happens is Javier went out to the truck and brought in a brand new yellow hose. I asked Pedro if that was the problem...if that what was causing the gas smell, and he said yes....leaks in the hose...so guess what? Michael and I spent thousands of dollars….and the problem was that yellow hose…which not one other repair person had checked (despite being here NUMEROUS times over the years due to my complaints of a gas smell.)
Oh well….what are you going to do? After that, he and his partner had that new hose and new stove hooked up in 20 minutes:
I made sure everything worked…and they were out the door, extremely happy with 2 bags of white trash :~). Our new stove comes with a 5th burner, or you can turn that into a griddle/grill….we are both excited to try that out!
I headed back to the studio to finish up cutting and cleaning, and finally my sewing tables have gone from this:
to this:
I feel so much calmer when I look at this.....now I just have to attack the 87 other ''hot spots'' in my studio...do you guys know that term? You know, the other piles of ''stuff'' that have accumulated and need to be put away!!
Although it was supposed to drizzle on and off all day…the sun came out and my honey got in all 18 holes of golf (including a birdie)! We had leftovers for dinner and spent time downstairs afterwards…where I got 2 bindings made…one for the mens 4 patch quilt (I found this fabric in my scrap drawer and I think it will be perfect...now I just have to figure out a backing):
and one for the “X” marks the spot quilt (which is all quilted):
My binding drawer is looking good:
but that just means I’d better get cracking on quilting and finishing.
Janice & Dennis are up in Connecticut with family...and are ready to party:
*** If you want to save money this Christmas, now’s the perfect time to tell the kids that Santa didn’t make it through the pandemic. ***
Can you get the old stove back and keep the new hose?? You can save a lot of $$$. I have to start getting my "hot spots" in order but I think even if I start today, it will take to the new year to make a dent in it and it won't look as good as yours.
GLORY HALLELUJAH!!!! ...for the new working stove. It looks fantastic.
Poor Santa 🎅 he will be missed!
