The week of May 17th...
There is so much going on in the news that it can be easy to overlook the fact that the president continues to tell a whole lot of lies.
President Donald Trump delivered a dizzying variety of false claims in his public remarks over the past week. They included inaccurately rosy assertions about the US economy and the war with Iran, baseless attacks against Democrats, and his familiar egregious lies about American elections.

We were both up early on Friday (5/22), I got an ice box cake put together and into the fridge, then got some peanut butter cookie dough out of the freezer and onto a cookie sheet to thaw.
After that it was downstairs to continue working on sewing together my One Block Wonder. I headed upstairs at 10:30 AM to get the cookies baked minutes before Patrick (president/owner of the Geochron company (Geochron is a dynamic display that serves as a world clock, showing the time, day, date, and seasonal sun position across the globe. It features real-time day/night shading and live global data on beautiful 4K map displays. Historically, Geochron was the first world clock to visually represent day and night on a world map, allowing observers to determine the time anywhere in the world)) showed up for a visit:

Michael loves his Geochron, but he has been having some problems with it and Patrick is doing an east coast tour, visiting clients. He was here for about 4 hours, working on various things, but then wanted a tour of the house to see all of the quilts, AND my work area downstairs! He certainly seemed impressed with everything, and he himself seemed like an impressive young man.
Michael headed to the Lake House for a workout after he left, and I finally got my OBW all sewn together and pressed:

I got a backing cut and loaded before our company showed up….Deb & Larry:

came down to play cards and talk and have ice box cake:

It was a lovely evening and after they left around 11 PM, we read our books for a bit before bed.

I was excited to hit the studio Saturday morning (5/23) to set up the pattern and start quilting on the One Block Wonder. I agonized over the thread color for this quilt….as there are so many colors in it. AND…I really didn’t want to take anything away from the quilt….I wanted the quilting to blend in. I finally said ‘’just pick something and do it’’ and went with a medium gray:

I think it is OK, and I got about halfway done with the quilt by dinnertime. I spent the evening watching TV with my honey and re-claiming brown backing fabric.
I was texting a bit with Susie (former Thursday quilter) and she sent along pictures of 2 of her recent finishes....aren't they exquisite?:

Sunday morning (5/24) I was back at it, working on the second half of my One Block Wonder:

I worked on this quilt all day and was hoping to have it done by dinnertime, but I ran into more tension problems. My winder has gone round the bend, and is winding my bobbins so tightly that it is affecting the stitching on my quilt. So, I posted my problem on FB and will wait until a few other long armmers weigh in before continuing.
Michael and I decided we should have a date night….so you know what that means….champagne (with frozen strawberries to keep it cold):

and puffy things.....like chicken/veggie dumplings:

and some mozzarella sticks:

along with REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES, the NETFLIX movie. I read the book several years ago and it was EXCELLENT…and the movie was wonderful….I highly recommend both.
And 10 years ago....
*** Back in my day we didn't have Urgent Care.....we had mercurochrome, a Band-aid, and a mom that said ''you'll live''....and some how we did. ***
*** Remember when you could lay in one position for hours? Now, you have to rotate every 15 minutes like a rotisserie chicken...or a hip hurts. ***
*** I've reached the age where I can't tell if I've sustained an injury....or that's just how I am now. ***

I love your One Block Wonder and cannot wait to see it completed! The other two quilts are stunning! The ice box cake looks so YUMMY! Happy Anniversary!
We have a great life-- Love reliving each week thru your blog!
Cant wait to see OBW laid out!💜
