Golf Cart Parade, Kay & Pete

The rain finally stopped, so Michael spent the morning getting ready to go golfing on Monday (5/29). I headed to Paula’s driveway at 9 AM for the Memorial Day golf cart parade:

I don’t know what happened this year…but they took forever to get to us.

I got home just in time for Michael to take the golf cart for his tee time. I made some breakfast, then headed to the studio to get back to quilting. I got a few rows done before Anne stopped by for a visit and to claim a piece of cake! She thought it was very good, so I gave her the recipe as it has no sugar and no flour…..2 things I know she is working to avoid. She looked so thin….she is doing a GREAT job managing her weight!

After she left, I put together an ice box cake for dinner….first you make homemade pudding (I guess you could use a box, but as homemade takes literally 15 minutes, and tastes MILES better, why would you?) Then you layer it with graham crackers:

3 layers of each, and pop it into the fridge. I always put it on a hot pad in the fridge as I am afraid of cracking my glass shelves.

I headed back to the studio after that and spent the afternoon finishing up quilting on the Ohio fabric quilt:

Michael came home from golf and we both got cleaned up and headed over to Kay & Pete’s:

for a FEAST:

and corn on the cob from Harris Teeter that was EXCELLENT!!!

A yummy Memorial Day cookout with tons of yummy food….let’s see…they fed us Sunday night with Kay’s seafood casserole, and Monday night with the cookout…and sent us home with a bag of leftovers that will probably feed us at least TWO more nights! We sat around and talked for a couple of hours, and when we got home, Michael and I watched just a bit of TV before bed.

*** You never know what I have up my sleeve….today for example, it was a dryer sheet. ***

LOVE the parade! Your Memorial Day feast looks fabulous! We made hot dogs, baked beans and the same pasta salad for dinner. At lunch we substituted baked chicken for the hot dogs. Dessert was homemade short cake with homegrown strawberries and vanilla ice cream. We spent the day with my dad in the back yard. Quiet and peaceful! Love that quilt!
