Happy New Year!!!!! Welcome to 2023! I remember back in the 1960's, talking about the year 2000 and it seemed so far away....sometimes I have trouble believing I'm alive 23 years into the new millenium!
The morning was all about getting ready:
for the brunch that started at 10 AM.
Anne was such a trouper…wading through many difficulties at Dunkin’ Donuts to bring us our boxes of coffee (since we don’t have a coffee machine and don’t know how to make it…we just buy a couple of ‘’boxes of joe’’ for our guests!) Many people had to miss due to illness, but everyone who came seemed to have a good time:
-Dennis & Sue
-Bryce
-Susan
-Judy & Mike
-Pam
-Joe
-Kay & Pete
-Joanne & Larry
-Kay & Michael
-Pete & Ginny
-Anne
We still had a small diehard group at 2 PM (with a few latecomers after church):
and after they left, we got everything cleaned up, kicked off the dishwasher…and took a nap from 3 - 4 PM!
Michael wanted to watch the THIN MAN movies (there was a marathon on TCM Saturday night), so he settled into that, and I headed to the studio, to clean up my sewing tables for the new year…I went from this:
to this:
I’ve also been working on our bedroom walk in closet…that’s definitely a longer cleaning project, so stay tuned.
I was getting hungry around 6 PM and headed upstairs. Anne had brought us some of her yummy crab dip, and I had some leftover crescent roll dough…..so I created what may be one of our new favorite puffy things, by spreading the crab dip on the rolls, and then rolling them up and baking:
They were divine! I went back downstairs after dinner and started to apply the horizontal sashing to the men’s quilt….I can’t believe how much I love it….such a simple quilt, but I think the sashing just makes it pop!
We got together later in the evening to watch 2 episodes of THREE PINES on Amazon Prime and to keep addressing our Christmas cards.
*** This year I decided to make realistic New Year’s Resolutions:
1 – but more fabric
2 – start loads of projects
3 – east a lot of chocolate
4 – chat with friends instead of sewing
5 – stay up late quilting
6 – not finish my projects
7 – misplace my project parts
8 – wear my jammies all day ***
Now that's a resolution list I can live by !
Great party!!!
Corner stones would have made that quilt pop more but still a very nice quilt.
