Michael decided to take the day off from golfing on Monday (10/4)…his left knee has been giving him quite a bit of trouble, so he’s been resting and icing it over the last several days. I got a phone call after 10 AM indicating that booster shots were being given out at the library….so Michael took off to get one. We’ve been hearing about more significant reactions to the booster, so have decided to get them at different times. I tried to embroider twice more on my towel…and got nowhere (except for a big mess I have to rip out yet again!!! And hope that there isn’t a hole in the towel), so I finally wrote to Pat to see if I could get on her schedule for some embroidery time…and we will be seeing each other next week. In case you haven’t noticed…I have very nice friends!
Case in point: if you know me…you know I don’t like to leave my house…and I absolutely treasure the days when I do not have to go anywhere. I am EXTREMELY lucky that my honey likes to get out of the house and run errands. And I've been like this for a long....long...time. And I absolutely HATE to go shopping. This presents a few problems when I am looking for something. I had a command hook on my laundry room door for many years holding up my purse…and also one in the bathroom, holding up the caddy that holds the shampoo, soap, etc. Both of those hooks gave up the ghost…and maybe they’re making them differently now…but we’ve gone through a succession of hooks, and they’ve all broken rather quickly. I remembered years ago seeing wreath hooks…you know…those ones that go over the door…and thought that they might work…and also thought that maybe some stores might have their Christmas stuff out already and might have those hooks. Of course, finding that out would involve me leaving the house…and stopping in several stores to maybe find what I wanted. Well…here comes another friend to the rescue…Gale actually likes to shop….and she has found things for me in the past (most notably my beautiful 8’’ square baking pan), so I wrote to ask if she would keep her eyes peeled and tell me if she saw any. That was yesterday…..today….around 1 PM I got a text telling me to look in my paper tube….voila…..2 hooks that are going to work perfectly:
I LOVE YOU GALE!!! And, she found them at Hobby Lobby….who on earth would guess to look there?!?!? See, that’s another thing…I HATE it when someone is talking about something they’re bought…and I might be interested in it…and I ask ‘where do they carry them’…and the people invariably say ‘’oh, you can find them anywhere’’….NOT AT ALL HELPFUL people!!! I would NEVER have thought to look at HL. Guess that’s why Gale’s a good shopper….and I am not!
Anyway, I worked on the customer quilt and got it all cleaned up and trimmed, and made a label:
Just have to sew the binding on the right side and it will be done! And I got the binding done on one of my quilts:
But I didn't get the label stitched down....so not totally finished yet.
We had a smurfy dinner, thanks to the rotisserie chicken that Doug (Paula’s honey) delivered….Inez check it out:
Of course…that was Michael’s plate. I had the other half of his baked potato and the rest of the broccoli cheese for dinner:
Michael left for rehearsal at 6:30 PM….and Paula and I haven’t really gotten to talk to each other in forever….so she came down at 7 PM. We watched the second episode of THE BIG LEAP…of course every 2 seconds Paula or I would say PAUSE, as we thought of something else we wanted to talk about! So, it took us about 2 hours to watch a 1 hour show.
Michael was home by 9:30 PM and we snuggled on the couch until bed.
And, BG got back 3 quilts from her longarm quilter:
And I'm not the only one who lets things build up...I think she now has SEVEN quilts on her to-be-bound pile :~).
Here’s Michael’s cast, relaxing after a late Friday night rehearsal:
*** Exciting news…..I’ve started to do cross-fit….
I cross my fingers and hope that my pants fit. ***
Great idea with the hooks. Love BG's quilt. Would love to see the whole quilt.
Great idea for a replacement for your command hook ! I like the horseshoe quilting on BG's quilt.
Ah, a balanced meal!
