Iris lays out quilt, SHQ Show & Tell

An American foreign policy, national security and political affairs analyst and commentator claimed world leaders view President Donald Trump as an “embarrassing idiot,” especially after his rambling speech Wednesday, January 21, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

I didn’t quite finish getting my ‘’red’’ squares off of the design wall:

so I hurried downstairs on Tuesday morning (1/20) to polish that off.

My honey took off for the chiro and a service appointment on my car and Iris arrived and began laying out her quilt:

I hate the quarter inch foot on her BROTHER machine….I think it contributes to uneven quarter inch seams, so we decided that her blocks really needed to be squared up.  We ordered a new foot, which should be in by next Tuesday’s class, and in the meantime, she got everything squared up:

Once that was done, she decided she wanted to add narrow sashing in between the blocks, so she’s going to look for fabric she likes by next week.  She’s going to cut the strips at home…and I wanted to give her a pizza box so that they could lie flat and not get all wrinkled….but what I thought were 4 empty pizza boxes in my closet, turned out to be THREE UFO’s :~(, and the beginning of an FPF QoV….at least that one could be slotted into my current drawers.

I got Sandy’s second quilt off of XENA and loaded up her 3rd:

and kicked off the quilting in the afternoon.  And I started to work on sewing together the remaining blocks for the QoV…that’s going to take a long time to get the entire thing put together as there are about a KA-BILLION of those 4-1/2’’ squares to sew up.

Michael and I had salads for dinner, then he left for the movies and I watched TV while reclaiming backing fabric from my 4 patch quilt.

Wednesday morning (1/21) I video chatted with Janice, and my honey took off for a NOON shotgun (brr-r-r-r!), then I went back to quilting on Sandy’s 3rd quilt:

which was finished by dinner.  I have one more quilt to do from her, and then I am going to load up one of my own :~).

And I continued to work on the current QoV.  I’ve got a lot of the navy blue with big stars fabric building up….as that is generally the backing fabric I use on QoV’s….so I want my next one to use up a lot of that fabric.  I’ll have to look through my patterns to see what I’ve got.

And look at that little princess with her head on the Michael’s pillow:

that’s what she does while waiting for him to get out of the shower!

Thursday (1/22) was all about quilting…we had a lovely group, although my table was missing some stalwart members – Diane was out sick, Floy was at a retreat, and Marvella is traveling on vacation.

Cindy and I had a good time talking and got totally silly by the end of the day :~).

We had some lovely show and tell:

-this is the back of Margaret's ''cat princess and the pea'' quilt she showed last week.

I thought about stopping at the grocery store on the way home, but the parking lots were PACKED in preparation for the huge winter storm descending Saturday into Sunday into Monday, so I just headed home.

I did a tiny bit of sewing when I got home, but for some reason, for the past week around 4 – 6 PM I just have an overwhelming urge to take a nap!  Can’t keep my eyes open…but I’ve been resisting because if I do take a nap…I can’t get to sleep when we eventually go to bed!

After getting Michael’s sweater to the point of measuring for ribbing on the sleeves in the evening, I was pretty useless and just vegged/slept on the sofa and went to bed at 10 on the dot!

*****************************

I headed out early to Food Lion on Friday morning (1/23)…it wasn’t very crowded, but many of the shelves were wiped out!  I picked up a few things, then headed home to get Sandy’s 4th quilt loaded up:

I don’t plan to be long armming on Sunday as it is a bad idea to have your machine going and have the power suddenly cut out…so I’m hoping to get in a lot today and tomorrow.  I got that kicked off, and spent the rest of the day continuing to sew on the QoV.

OMG! That certainly was a flashback with the Split Pea Soup recipe. I think I probably wrote that for you in the early 80's in CT. I recognize the recipe cards from Current. I love split pea soup and haven't made it in ages. Love all of the Show and Tell quilts, especially the tulip one, which looks so 'Springy'. Sandy's quilts are so lovely! I love Iris' new quilt!
