“The simple reality [of] why I left is that there is a very concentrated group of people in the Trump administration that are antagonistic to what people voted for and are, frankly—I think it’s very clear—doing things for other reasons,” he said, adding, “Particularly in many cases to enrich their families.” Calley Means

I got home from a retreat on Friday (10/30) and after putting away all of my perishable items, I took a long nap!

After that I did a bit more unpacking, a bit of sewing, and then we packed up drinks and snacks and headed to the Lodge for a Tom Petty tribute band with 3 other couples.  I think everyone had a good time and Michael and I read for over an hour when we got home before bed.

Saturday morning (10/31) was productive and frustrating.  I got a blog entry out….that took a long time…then the frustrating part was lifting the freeze on our credit….temporarily….so that Michael could buy a new TV, as ours was wiped out by some kind of power surge while I was at retreat (it was only 2 years old….what a bummer!).  It was weird because there wasn’t a storm or anything…but the TV is DEAD…DEAD….DEAD!

Finally in the afternoon, I got back to sewing my peppers:

We had shrimp cocktail and split a baked potato for dinner and played cribbage (I got CREAMED!!!) before settling in with our books for the rest of the evening.

Sunday, November 1st – one of my favorite days of the year…..25 hours long….I LOVE IT!!!!

We were up early and for once I headed downstairs early….my thread-ful QoV is still on the frame and I gotta get it off as I have 2 new customer ones to load up, so I spent 1-1/2 hours getting all of the ends sewn in, while Michael was making himself gas housers again!

I got all but one of my additional HST’s done for the newest pinwheel quilt….I am one short as the orange fabric I had, had a huge white selvage on it, so I’ve gotta cobble together one more….what do we think of this quilt:

It’s certainly different than the previous ones I did, where you could very clearly see the pinwheels.  I'll have some comparison photos in a later blog....

After that, it was time to get cleaned up and head into Charlotte for Theatre Charlotte’s production of FRANKENSTEIN….VERY unusually presented and very good!  We stopped at Juniper Grill for dinner on the way home…

those shrimp and crab enchiladas are just the best:

We both read for the rest of the night until bed.

I was up early on Monday (11/2) and got the backing fabric loaded for Darlene’s quilt before heading out to my hair appointment.  After that, I spent a lot of time Monday afternoon, and Tuesday (11/3) for most of the day, helping out a friend who is getting a bit cognitively impaired.  It is very difficult when someone is alone, and their only living relative is far away, and they need a bit of extra help….but they do not realize it….and actually actively reject it.

To tell the truth, I was very depressed when I came home on Tuesday, and spent the night drinking and sewing (is this a good combination?  I guess we’ll see when I inspect my stuff on Wednesday :~) while Michael was at the movies with Larry.

I got the inner border done for the peppers quilt:

and also worked on quilting Darlene’s quilt:

And 10 years ago....

*** Got all of my Christmas shopping done this morning....hope everyone likes Halloween costumes! ***

*** It wouldn't be the holidays without a turkey... a fruitcake....and some mixed nuts....but enough about the relatives. ***

*** Walmart thinks I want to put up my Christmas tree and eat a turkey, while wearing my Halloween costume.
