Ladies breakfast, Freya's new friend

President Trump is changing his tune on the economy, suggesting Americans should buy less and will probably pay more and bear the brunt of an uncertain economic landscape as his wide-ranging tariff policy takes effect.

Trump and his economic team have for weeks said the tariffs would result in only short-term pain and that the tumult in the stock market would eventually level out.

But the White House’s messaging has evolved from Trump on the campaign trail promising to lower prices and make America “wealthy” again to Trump suggesting the U.S. needs a cultural shift on consumer spending while accepting that his tariff plan will raise prices.

AND...if you retaliate against judges for checking on your power (as tRUMP is doing), you're proving exactly why their check on your power is necessary.

Monday morning (5/5) Michael left for a doctor’s appointment and then out for 9 holes of golf around NOON.

I left for our ladies' breakfast at Sally’s house….yummy food:

-I made pear/ginger coffee cake

and wonderful company:

-Gale and Sally

-Ginny & Ann Mary

We talked and talked and I ran 2 short errands afterwards and finally got home at 2 PM!!

I headed to the studio to continue to work on my disappearing hourglass blocks.  My honey wasn’t home until 5 PM and we had a chance for just a brief chat before he left again.  He got an email ‘’invitation’’ to attend a movie screening for only 5 bucks…the catch was….they wouldn’t tell him what the movie was!  Since he won’t be able to go on his usual Tuesday night ‘’date’’ to the movies with Larry, they both decided to go.  He wasn’t home until 10 PM…he said the movie was great…some shoot-em-up, lots of blood and dead bodies thing...but he was beat, having been away from home pretty much all day!

Michael was up and out on Tuesday (5/6) for his regular neuropathy appointment, and I headed to the studio, determined to finally finish off my disappearing hourglass blocks.  Once again, I had lovely, soft, fluffy company:

I’m sure there was a bunch of procrastination when I was sewing because quite frankly….I am sick to death of these blocks…but at last, by mid-afternoon, I was done!  As I began to lay them out on the design wall, I texted BG (who has the same hourglass blocks, but has not yet made them disappear!) and said ‘’Dear God in heaven!!!!  Don’t cut them down because no one will be able to close their eyes after seeing this quilt!'':

My honey left at 5 PM for his monthly Mustang meeting club, and I continued to sew.

I SKYPE’d with Janice on Wednesday (5/7) and after that it was IN THE KITCHEN WITH PAM:

She’s had a dough recipe she wanted to try out for years…and I’ve been working on perfecting my rough puff pastry…so we met up at 11 AM and made a series of puffy things…..palmiers with homemade pesto and Parmesan:

mushroom turnovers:

and cheese cups:

Michaeel got in on the action as well…taste testing everything.  We baked every thing and cleaned up the kitchen and even got to talk for a couple of hours before she left.  We both still have leftover dough….I’m going to throw mine in the freezer for use sometime in the future!

Michael and Freya headed to the dog park…and Freya made a new friend:
