Michael left for his golf tournament super early on Wednesday (7/15) and I video chatted with Janice in the morning, and spent the rest of the day in the kitchen.

First up was baking a lemon pound cake and then infusing it with a limoncello glaze....that went into quilting on Thursday, while a smaller one went to our neighbor as a thank you for all of the produce we have been getting from his garden:

Then I went to town, making fresh pastry to line a raspberry, chocolate ganache tart, that I served on Wednesday night.

Michael came home from his tournament absolutely exhausted and soaked due to the heat. He didn't think his team did very well, but he had a great time golfing with a neighbor who is also from New Britain, CT (a very small town where Michael grew up!)

We both got a bit of energy back before our company: Diane and Mark:

and Greg & Marvella:

showed up. And they wanted a picture of us too:

Marvella & Greg brought a new game called CARBLES, and it was an absolute HOOT to play:

We had another reason for our gathering.....we presented Greg with a non-traditional Quilt of Valor:

and I think it is safe to say that he was very, very surprised and pleased with the quilt. Marvella and I worked out all of the details together, and I gave her several choices of fabric to choose from before I started. I put together the top at a retreat last fall.

I ended up serving both of my desserts during the evening, and Michael said the tart looked just like something on one of the cooking shows :~).

 Michael packed the car and I headed off to quilting on Thursday (7/16).  I took in my lemon pound cake with the limoncello glaze and got many, many compliments on it :~).

Michael was out of the house at 7:30 AM Friday morning (7/17) to take my car in for scheduled maintenance, while I got laundry started before hitting the studio.  I had a number of things I wanted to finish off, so I wanted to get started early.  First up was finally finishing the quilting on my BG Revised quilt: 

I’ve been on and off and on and off the quilting here due to pop-up thunder showers and am glad to finally have it done as I’ve picked up 2 customer quilts in the meantime! 

Next I got it off of the frame and all cleaned up and on the to-be-bound pile: 

And of course, now that the to-be-bound pile is piled high with 2 quilts….my ‘’princess’’ Lucy is interested in napping there:

I spent 2 hours trying to get through my emails (I got dreadfully behind) and then more time on the computer, working on a blog entry.  By then it was off to Sip and Cider for lunch with Diane & Mark & Carol & Ed…

with lots of lively talking about when we could have our next game night, as we’re all headed out on various trips.

Once home, Michael settled in to watch the British Open, and I continued to sew my crumb blocks together.  By 8 PM when I headed upstairs, I had all of the inside together, but it is not yet pressed.
