BREAKING: Trump’s new “TrumpRX” drug program gets IMMEDIATELY exposed as a scam!
Surprise, surprise! The president held a big to-do yesterday at the White House where he boasted about how, for example, with his new Trump RX program, “they’re slashing the price of a common inhaler from $458 to $51, a difference of nearly 800%.”
First, off, Donnie, that is not an 800% difference. It is 88%. But that’s not the point.
While Trump billed the program as the result of his masterful negotiations with drug companies, users quickly realized that “Trump Rx” was just a reskin of the GoodRx program...that only had about 50 prescriptions available, with prices more expensive than could be found in other places.
For some drugs, like weight-loss drugs like Wegovy, the “savings” were a straight-up scam. TrumpRX boasts that it’s taking the price from $1,349.02 to just $199 — but if you read the fine print, it clearly says it’s just $199 for the first two months, then the price jumps to $349 a month. For something like an inhaler, the TrumpRX lists it for $51 — but when you click on it, you are taken directly to the AstraZeneca website to see if you qualify for a hardship program that they ALREADY HAD.
All the drugs available are already covered by health insurance, which TrumpRX does not accept.
“TrumpRx is a side show,” Sean D. Sullivan, a health economist at the University of Washington, said to the New York Times. “I consider it not a real, serious effort in service to lowering prescription drug prices for Americans.”
Who could have seen THAT coming?

SNOW! SNOW! SNOW! That’s what we woke up to Saturday morning (1/31) with a predicted 4 – 7 inches by the time we go to bed. It was MICHAEL & DEB IN THE KITCHEN:

with us getting Italian Wedding Soup in the crockpot before Michael made his traditional omelet for breakfast, while I headed to the studio.
I have now cleaned up every single tiny thing I wanted to get done…and get to start something new!!! I saw a really cool quilt on PINTEREST, which was supposed to be made with 9 patches….but I have these blocks:

leftover from 2 recent quilts, so I decided to try the pattern out with them instead. I thought it would give me a good chance to try it out and figure out my pattern directions before I really attempt it in a dialysis size. I only needed to cut black and white fabric, so I got busy with that. I worked on those blocks all day and really hoped to have all of them done by dinnertime….but still need the last step.
We had the Italian Wedding Soup and fresh popovers for dinner (no pictures though….. you’ve seen enough of popovers….right??) and watched the SEVEN DIALS (Agatha Christie) mystery on NETFLIX in the evening.
*****************************************
OMG!!!! It was 20 degrees when we got up Sunday morning (2/1) and my poor baby looked like this:

Michael made oatmeal for breakfast and ate it in the living room in front of the fire…I headed to the studio, anxious to continue working on my new quilt…and by early afternoon, I had this:

Michael took Freya for a walk and saw an unusual site in someone's yard (unusual because we almost never get enough snow for this!):

I continued to work on my quilt and got it all sewn together by the time I stopped for dinner. We had champagne and puffy things (tempura shrimp) to celebrate surviving both storms:

and watched MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING in the evening.

I was HOT to continue working on my newest top…which was good since it was only 18 degrees when we got up on Monday (2/2). I did a bunch of paperwork before hitting the studio to put a border on my quilt:

Doesn't that just frame it really well!?! I think it just makes everything POP!!
And my honey helped out by making me yet another smurfy breakfast:

I pieced a backing and got everything loaded up and kicked off the quilting:

I worked on that all day, along with doing a label and a few other strips sets for leaders and enders, and was almost finished by the time BG and I got to video chatting :~). We had a wonderful time talking and were done by about 6:30 PM and I headed upstairs.
And 10 years ago.....we were on our first trip to ICELAND, with Ralph & Candyce!!!

I love your new quilt! It is really striking. I thought you moved to South Carolina to get away from the snow and cold weather? It was -20 this morning and the winds are howling here this afternoon around 40 MPH. BRRRR!
Fantastic funnies!!!
Love the batik quilt.
Will you share pattern measurements, strip piece sizes, etc ?
Thank you
