tRUMP's new pick to run the bureau of Labor Statistics participated in the January 6th insurrection....yep, rewarding anyone who supports him (REGARDLESS of what they have done to America in the past) and firing anyone who doesn't fall into line.
And a few more facts on recent events - the president actually calling in the National Guard to take over DC - proves that he really did have the ability to call off January 6th (although at the time, he claimed he did not). He had that ability all along and sat on it because he wanted to watch it burn.
He is okay calling in the National Guard on the homeless, the poor, the people of color in DC- but he would not call off the cosplay-patriots who stormed the capital on January 6th smearing feces on the walls and marching Confederate flags into our capital and beating policemen to death with flagpoles and worse....Because they were HIS people.
And then on his first day of his second term as president- he pardoned them all and released them all back into society.
He had the ability to call in the National Guard all along. Let that sink in.
And for what it's worth, crime is shown to be down about 30% in DC.

I was up early Monday morning (8/11) and polished off Sara’s quilt by NOON:

And spent the rest of the afternoon making brown binding and a label:

and starting to affix both to another quilt! Michael left around 6 PM for another mystery $5.00 movie, and Iris came over to work on her quilts.

*****************************************
We were up just after 6 AM on Tuesday (8/12) to get Michael’s car to CROSSROADS FORD in Monroe for the installation of fog lights.
-before......

-and after......

Back home by 9 AM, I headed to the studio to load up Sandy’s quilt:

I worked on that all day as it is HUGE….along with putting binding on another BEDS=DREAMS quilt. We had fresh tomato pizzas again for dinner:

and Michael left at 5:30 for the movies yet again…and I spent a relaxing evening reclaiming longarm backing fabric.
**************************************
I spent the morning on Wednesday (8/13) in the kitchen, getting bread made and peanut butter cookies baked:

and the afternoon working on Sandy’s quilt:

as I wanted to be able to trim it at quilting (it’s huge) and by dinnertime it was done! I also stitched out a label that Paula wanted:

She wanted cream thread…and the thread I picked looked almost tan….but when it stitched out it looked totally WHITE! Anyway, I was happy with what I got done during the day…and happy to snuggle with my honey at night!

Thursday (8/14) was all about quilting….and I taught the first session of my chandelier quilt. This really is an easy pattern….but a couple of people didn’t have their cutting done (as they were supposed to before the first class), and other people still don’t know how to get a good quarter inch seam, and still others need more practice with a rotary cutter as their supposed-to-be-same-width strips, were all different widths…..but they all have their homework assignments for the second class which is next month!
We had lovely show and tell:

June came home with me (can you say slumber party?) as she had a quilt that was too big to do on her machine…and we polished it off before 7 PM!!

AND....June even had 1 pocket on her t-shirt quilt...and we managed to quilt around it....SCORE!
Michael left to celebrate the birthday of one of his golfing buddies, and June and I were sitting in the kitchen having dinner when the real excitement started for the day. I watched a car back out of my neighbor’s driveway, and accelerate across the street, jump the curb and knock down my next door neighbor’s mailbox (for the second time!), and shatter her back window.

When I went out to see who was in the car, it was my neighbor Nancy, who lives directly across the street from us. I don’t mean to sound at all crass, but I was grateful that she hadn’t accidently reversed out of her own driveway….as she would have smashed into the back of both June’s and my car! OR - heaven forbid she would have done that while June and I were unloading our cars....
Anyway, I called 9-1-1…and they switched us over to the Highway Patrol. Eventually an ambulance came to pick Nancy up, and finally, 45 minutes later, Highway Patrol showed up. And me….being who I am….had Nancy’s son and daughter-in-law’s phone number, so I called them to let them know what was happening, and they also spoke to the EMT’s and the Highway Patrol guy. While I was standing in Howard’s driveway (the one whose mailbox got creamed)….I also noticed something across the street and walked over to take a look…yep…Nancy had hit that neighbor's garage door on the other side of the street before reversing across the street.
I know that an accident can happen to anyone, but at least a year ago (based on several other incidents I had witnessed in person), I expressed to the son/DIL that I didn’t think Sun City provided the amount of support that Nancy needed. And based on something the son said to me last night….I can’t believe he is still allowing his mom to drive. What if someone had been walking their dog? We have a lot of dog walkers in our neighborhood who go right by our house. I remember my dad pushing back when we talked to him about giving up driving…he said ‘’if I kill myself in an accident, I’m only hurting myself’’, but when we said ‘’what if you take someone with you….like a pedestrian’’, he finally considered what we were saying and gave up his keys. It’s just a sad situation all around.
Anyway, since June had finished her quilt, and it was still pretty early in the evening, she decided to head for home instead of staying over. All told, the events outside with the car took over an hour (of my standing and walking) and I definitely paid for it with incredible pain for the rest of the night :~(.
