New QoV, Elsie

On Monday, the Trump administration is expected to ask Congress to end federal funding for PBS and NPR — casting the organizations as wastes of money that “spread radical, woke propaganda.” Such a proposal would start a 45-day clock for the House and Senate to either vote to cut the funding or ignore the proposal and keep the funding intact. At an annual cost of $535 million to taxpayers, such stations provide access to educational shows, emergency alerts and a wide array of radio and TV programming, including educational programs like “Sesame Street.”

Janice got up on Friday (4/25) determined to finish her quilt before she left for home:

and by 2 PM she was finished!!

  She left for home:

and I spent the rest of the afternoon drafting out a new pattern for the diagonal stars quilt that Janice/BG/I did at retreat (I know you haven't seen it yet....I'm still working on the write-up for QUAP).  We thought the layout was too confusing,.. and had too many stars and was too large.  I think I fixed all of those problems with the 3rd iteration of the pattern that I came up with:

Thank goodness for Michael with his colored pencils and his willingness to always (ALWAYS!!!) help me with quilting stuff!  He colored in enough of the squares that I could see the start of the stars, and start to develop a written pattern.

I stopped around 7 PM to have our date night….champagne and puffy things….and 3 hours of MATLOCK…what an incredible show…what an incredible cliffhanger!!

I spent Saturday morning (4/26) starting to cut focus fabric for a new QoV/BQ pattern…and then was totally frustrated when I couldn’t find the pattern to finish the rest of the cutting!!!

Michael finished coloring in squares for me on the Diagonal Stars revision….and he noticed an error in my placement….that took half an hour to correct, then I went over the color placement for the new squares…then I tried to total up my blocks to make sure my written directions were as correct as I could make them…and I was off by 2 blocks.  I searched and searched and could NOT find the problem….so I finally took it up to my honey and he identified my 2 extra squares….WHEW!!!  I finally think it is complete:

I spent time after that writing up the pattern and re-counting the 4-1/2’’ squares to see what I still needed to cut.

I had company in the afternoon….this hasn’t happened in a long time….

We had leftovers for dinner, and watched one of the rom-com DVD’s that Kay & Pete left us in the move: SWEET HOME ALABAMA!

Sunday (4/27) was all about quilting for me….I got the new Beds=Dreams quilt loaded up and started quilting:

I spent the rest of the day cutting for a new QoV pattern that Janice revised and I like MUCH better (Yes, I finally re-found the pattern along with her revised directions)!  She cut down on the amount of background fabric that you need….ALWAYS a plus in my opinion.

My honey picked up our neighbor and headed out to give him a ride in the MUSTANG.  They had a good time and Michael came home with a bucket of strawberries for half price!  It was near the end of the day and the farmer said they were on the verge of going bad.  Michael cut up half of them for us to eat (and they were HEAVENLY) and cleaned and cut the other half and put them in the freezer (ice cubes for our champagne doncha know!)

I was about 60% of the way done with my quilting when I quit around 8 PM and finally had a salad for dinner and settled in with my honey to watch TRACKER and WATSON.

And 10 years ago....

Kitty looks like she only had one quilt to lounge on. Usually there’s three or four.
