I guess the 6th time is really the charm! The seal has broken on both of our sliding glass doors. Quite some time ago, I called JELD WENN and they immediately sent out 2 new doors. Then we began the process of getting someone to install the doors. I was willing to pay whatever it cost….unfortunately out of the 5 people who came by to look at them…NO ONE could figure out how to get the old doors out and the new doors in. Paula and I were going to quilting one Thursday and I saw a JELD WENN truck in one of the driveways, with a guy standing outside of it. I asked Paula to quickly pull over and I jumped out to talk to the guy. He was supposed to call me, but never did….so finally after over a month I gave him a second call and he finally came this morning (Tuesday, 9/14) and voila:
A little over an hour later he was done!!! Michael and I are both shocked when we look out the doors…..I guess we had gotten so used to how they looked….they are so clear now!!! I headed to the studio after that to work on squiggle borders a bit (I must REALY not like to do borders based on how much procrastinating I am doing on these) and Michael eventually joined me. I HAD to take a picture of this….anyone who really knows Cookie, knows that when she wants to relax, she wants to be covered up. She managed to get her head covered on the chair all by herself:
I had a shoulder doctor’s appointment in the early afternoon and I really need to learn to record people talking on my phone, because Dr O’Neal came in and said ‘’you look wonderful, you’re pefect, you look terrific’’! Now I know he was talking about my shoulder, but he never said the word ‘’shoulder’’ and I’d just like to have his words on tape for when I need a pick-me-up!! He said at 13 weeks I am ‘’out of the danger zone’’ of ripping something or ruining what he had put in place, and that I looked terrific and right on track, or actually a bit ahead of the curve. I had PT after that and was finally home around 3:30 PM.
Sandy D came over after that and brought her friend Chris. At the moment, I am not taking on any new customers, but Sandy swore to me that she wouldn’t give me any quilts for ‘’a long, long time’’, if I would do her friend Chris’s quilt. Chris is quite the character, with lots of interesting stories...the best of which was that she worked for Dr Fauci for several (many?) years at the NIH, at the beginning of the aids crisis. I asked her several questions about him and was so pleased to find out that he is exactly as I suspected from seeing him on TV and reading about him….a great guy! He must have HATED working for/with Tr***, but remained the consumate gentleman.
Michael had yogurt for dinner and left at 5:30 PM for the movies. I tried to work on the squiggle quilt…but again, I guess I REALLY don’t like borders as I am procrastinating something fierce!
*** MMR – Michael’s Movie Reviews ***
Sheng-Chi (and the legend of the ten rings) :Starring Awkwafina and an all Asian cast. This is an epic drama from the Marvel Universe. It starts in the real world (mostly) with two car valet workers who become embroiled in a fantastical adventure all because of a emerald necklace with a history going back thousands of years! All is linked to a father who has lived over a thousand years, mainly because of these 10 magical rings he wears and (of course) wants to rule the world! He needs two magical emeralds one from the valet and one from the valet's sister, to try to save his wife who he believes is still alive trapped in an "Avatar" type country . Huge special effects make all the martial art fights superior in their portrayal on screen. By the end people are fighting dragons trying to save the world. Much back story is needed to understand all that is going on and is worth sitting through, however the final battle scene, as in all Marvel movies, goes on a little too long for me. Do the good guys win? No spoilers here! I give it 3.5 fat quarters out of 5.

I think the squiggle quilt would look perfectly fine without borders !! I'm just sayin'....
