Pat, Anniversary card, In the Kitchen with Michael and Deb: Meringue Cookies

During his remarks at an executive order signing in the Oval Office several days ago, Donald Trump lashed out at the press, saying that it should be "illegal" for them to constantly make him look bad. "That's no longer free speech," Trump stated, whining about the negative publicity.

Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted by a federal grand jury, an extraordinary escalation in President Donald Trump's effort to prosecute his political enemies. Comey, a longtime nemesis of the president, is now the first senior government official to face federal charges in one of Trump's largest grievances: the 2016 investigation into Russian interference in the US presidential election. Comey has been charged with giving false statements and obstruction of a congressional proceeding, and could face up to five years in prison if convicted. As Trump celebrated the news on social media Thursday, Comey shared in a defiant video response that he is innocent and "not afraid," adding that his "heart is broken for the Department of Justice."

tRUMP is a sad, sad little man....

Michael left for golf around 8:30 AM Saturday morning (9/20) but not before helping me with another UFO:

I definitely needed his help to get this up on the design wall…this is the first king sized quilt I started when we got our king sized bed….it’s been laying on the pool table for probably a year (or more) …..but I’m back on it now  :~).  I figured out that I need to sew the center seam, put a 1 inch purple border all of the way around it, and then a 4 inch border (if I have enough focus fabric) on the 2 sides, and then it will be the size I want.  Before I started sewing on that, I set up and kicked up the program on the second fleece backed quilt:

Guess ginger snap is my new favorite pattern!

I worked on my second fleece blanket on Sunday (9/21) as well as enjoying a visit from Pat:

who stopped by to chat.  I worked on it all day and by dinnertime got it off of my frame:

Guess it was my day for visitors, as Paula texted near dinner to ask if I had any celery seed…I thought I had some from making my pickles over the summer, so she stopped down to pick some up and stayed to chat for just a bit.  I also got the center seam sewn on my king-sized quilt and got it all pressed, and figured out I need 11 purple strips for a small inner border all the way around.

And, I got an anniversary card done for Marc & Kate (the ''kids''):

Michael left for golf with March on Monday morning (9/22) and I headed to the library.  I had seen a notice that they were having a crafter’s group and I wanted to check it out.  There were 3 of us oldsters and 4 young people and it was quite nice!

I got a bit of knitting done on Michal’s sweater (after ripping out the sleeves YET AGAIN when I was visiting Pam, after I decided I did my decreases too quickly!) and had some lovely conversations.  I thought about one of my Connecticut friends during our time together, as 2 of the young people insert the word ‘’like’’, every 3rd word in anything they are saying…and that drives me absolutely BATTY!!!!  Oh well….

When I got home, I read for a bit until my honey got home with a SCORCHING score of 40 for 9 holes!!!  He was thrilled.  He said Mark ended up with a 34 (2 under par) for the 9 holes.  Michael wasn’t feeling up to par on Sunday, so we didn’t do what we planned, but Monday afternoon was IN THE KITCHEN WITH MICHAEL AND DEB….we made Meringue Cookies:

-just like on TV when they hold it upside down over their heads to show that their peaks are so stiff it won't fall out!

What a lot of fun and oh, so easy!  I don’t have a lot of cookie recipes that use an extra egg yolk, but I do have a few…so my freezer is full of egg whites as I've been collecting them for YEARS!!…..I think I’ll be making these more often in the future!

We had some leftovers for dinner and played cribbage in the evening while watching SOMEBODY FEED PHIL on NETFLIX.

I got the meringue cookies covered with chocolate Tuesday morning (9/23) and popped them into Michael’s cookie jar:

After that I headed to my computer to get caught up on blog stuff before Iris showed up.  Her littlest is now in pre-school and her oldest is in kindergarten, so she has a couple of hours available in the morning, instead of visiting in the evening when her hubby is home to be with the kids…so we’re going to try to get together in the mornings to continue to work on her quilts.

We worked on her tulip/butterfly quilts and she went home with homework (sewing on the small, inner border) and I headed back to my computer to spend some time checking out charities ahead of our video meeting with our financial planner on Wednesday.

I hosted our Fiber Nutz group on Tuesday afternoon….there were only 4 of us, but the conversations were lively and fun and no one left until around 4:30 PM.

Michael and I had a quick dinner before he left for the movies and I settled in for some quiet time after a full day  :~).

And when I opened the eggs to make my breakfast the other day...I found this:

I've never seen that pattern before and LOVED it. Anyone out there remember why we started this? Even Michael had forgotten and I had to remind him :~).

And 10 years ago....we were visiting in Connecticut and Ithaca....

**** I don't know the secret to happiness....but I can say I've never been sad in a quilt store. ***

No idea what you are talking about the eggs. I hardly recognized Janice in that picture from 10 years ago,
