Michael left for golf by 9 AM on Saturday (12/23), even though it was FREEZING! And of course, I headed to the studio. I got my blocks all sewn into rows, got the rows pressed, sewed them to each other…and loaded up my backing, batting and quilt top:
So, this quilt wouldn’t have happened without a bunch of stuff falling into place: Pat making that quilt at retreat….Leila/Pat getting us into a frenzy of buying that fabric (my very first Kaffe fabric!!!)….me GOOGLE-ing ‘’lime green quilts’’, and after seeing those pictures, making me remember the Kaffe fabric we all bought, mine and BG's was sitting in the guest room, in the package it came in....waiting for BG's visit in April to open….having other fabrics in my stash to go with the green….finding exactly what I wanted for backing so conveniently….having the ability to quilt my own stuff so that the moment the quilt top was done, it could be loaded up and quilted…having a BQ pattern that I liked and could be made up in a (relative) flash….being done with all of my customer quilts and I’m sure other things I’m not remembering. Many people think I am very productive….but most people realize that I am not FAST at anything I do…..I am grateful that all of my Christmas candy was done and shipped and given out locally…and that my honey takes care of SO MANY HOUSE THINGS and errands so that I could concentrate on quilting. I remain SO VERY GRATEFUL for the life I lead….I am definitely blessed!!! By mid-afternoon, I was loading and quilting on XENA:
I don't like very dense quilting when I have one of those very soft backs...and this turned out perfectly. The stitches sunk into the backing and you don't even feel them.
Michael headed out for Chinese for dinner, and then wanted to watch a scary movie….giving me time to remain in the studio and finish the quilting!!!
And here’s the finale of BG’s Advent calendar:
BG never got to go to Corinne's in person, but she now owns 6 yards of Corinne's fabric!
It's 1967, HOLLYWOOD SQUARES is on…I'm 9 years old. My mom and dad are roaring with laughter and I don't understand what's so funny.
Q. According to Ann Landers, is there anything wrong with getting into the habit of kissing a lot of people?
A. Charley Weaver: It got me out of the army.
Q. Back in the old days, when Great Grandpa put horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do?
A. George Gobel: Get it in his mouth.
Love your customer quilt! The colors look so fresh. Merry Christmas to you, Michael and the furry kids!
I had no idea what BQ quilts were, had to look them up
Do they rerun Hollywood squares anywhere?
Merry Christmas to you all.
