Sandy's quilt, 2 finishes from Janice

This is making me absolutely sick....as it should ALL Americans:

Defy President Donald Trump and retribution will be swift. That’s the message the White House is sending to Harvard University after the school refused to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion policies, audit the viewpoints of students, faculty and staff and alter rules for on-campus protests. In response, the Trump administration froze $2.2 billion in federal grants at Harvard. The IRS is reportedly making plans to rescind the university's tax-exempt status. The Department of Homeland Security canceled two federal grants worth $2.7 million and threatened to strip Harvard of its ability to enroll international students unless it turns over its disciplinary records. And Trump trashed the school in a rant on his Truth Social site. As the university grapples with the sudden loss of funding, Harvard researchers are scrambling to figure out what to do about studies that are already in progress. Yet even as each school weighs having to cut budgets and staff, nearly 800 faculty members have signed a letter urging the university to resist the Trump administration’s demands.

And something else to stifle free unbiased speech:

“This is not about the money. It’s a minuscule amount of money in the federal budget, though it’s critical to meeting public media’s civic responsibilities. This is about attacking a free press.”

Jim Schachter, CEO of New Hampshire Public Radio, commenting on the Trump administration’s attempt to defund NPR and PBS.

We had a leisurely breakfast for pancakes and bacon on Sunday morning (4/13):

before Michael headed out to return the hand truck and take Freya to the dog park, while I headed to the studio.

I have a huge quilt from Sandy that I got loaded up:

got the program set up and kicked off quilting:

By the time I stopped, I was only through 5 rows, of a 14 row pattern.

Michael and I decided we needed a date night before I leave for QUAP (which will be this coming Saturday!!!), so it was champagne and puffy things…..and I didn’t get pictures of anything!!!  We started out with mini-quiches, and then had a variety of fillings in puff pastry shells…everything was yummy!

Monday morning (4/14) I met with Aundi:

from the South Carolina PBS Endowment Center.  I made a contribution to PBS and I got an email asking if we could meet for coffee and conversation.  She was a lovely young woman, and we talked about everything under the sun, not just PBS!

When I left there, it was time to meet with a guidance counselor at Lancaster High School.  Michael and I are still working on scholarships, although the guidance counselor gave me some new thoughts and we might go in a different direction than we were originally planning.

Tuesday (4/15) was all about quilting on Sandy’s quilt…and by dinnertime, I was finished….she chose a wool batting, so that quilting really stands out:

And, some recent finishes from Janice.....I love her take on a BQ pattern (the coral quilt) so much that she has definitely sucked me in to doing one!
