Janice spent Saturday morning (6/17) finishing up her pink quilt:
and left around 1 PM:
after a visit from Paula to drop off a quilt.
Remember this quilt that I decided I just had to keep:
Well, I didn’t want to short change the dialysis people, and I still had a bunch of fabric left....so I made this out of the leftovers:
And I got binding done for it as well...
That took up my Saturday afternoon and evening, while Michael was watching the PGA tournament.
*************************************************
I was up early Sunday morning to hit the grocery store, then came home and made pasta salad (with carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and cheddar cheese) and a revised ice box cake:
Michael got to talk to Marc (and AJ for a little bit) for a wonderful beginning to Father’s Day.
I worked in my studio in the afternoon…I got Paula’s backing loaded, but when I tried to lay on the top, the batting is not wide enough:
I think I have it going in the wrong direction.
By then Diane & Mark arrived at 4 PM and we settled in the living room with drinks and seasoned shrimp they brought as an appetizer:
The guys finally settled in to watch the finals of the golf tournament, while Diane and I spent the time talking all things quilting :~). We paused around 6 PM for pasta salad, chicken on the grill and corn on the cob, then the guys went back to golf and Diane and I went back to quilt talk :~). Another pause at 8 PM for dessert…Diane’s flourless chocolate cake (TO-DIE-FOR) and my ice box cake:
Yes, we got our signals a little bit crossed...so we both made dessert!!! The guys finally finished up after 10 PM and Diane & Mark headed for home….it was a wonderful day!
By the way....a friend of a friend's great grandmother made a double wedding ring quilt top:
She would love to see it finished, although she doesn't want it back...anyone up for the challenge?
*** My liquid diet is going fabulously!!! After 4 glasses of wine…I no longer care about how fat I am :~). ***
I love your leftover quilt! Janice's pink quilt is really pretty and Paula's yellow, white and black quilt looks so summery with the little bees. The food looks scrumptious!
I am still so full……….but all the food was so yummy.
great idea to use up the leftovers !!
All the food looks sooo yummy. ;)
Hope you can find a good home for the wedding ring quilt !
I love your leftover blue quilt.
