The elections are almost here….I’ll be voting for the party that wants to give fourth graders free lunches, instead of the one that wants to force them to give birth.
"The mind is alive when it is flexible and adaptable. It can be updated, take new form, endure change.
The mind is dead when it is fixed and immovable. It cannot absorb new ideas or thoughts. It is stiff and brittle.
When we lose our ability to adapt, to move with the environment, to tolerate new beliefs and reshape our old ones, our mind is at risk of becoming outdated. The fixed mind becomes a relic." James Clear

I was up super early on Thursday (10/20) to take my thyroid medicine…then waited an hour to take my antibiotics….then waited an hour before having my teeth cleaned!
After that I headed to quilting, where we had a bit of show and tell:
-this is June's ''striped'' quilt (made from striped fabric)
-this quilt is specifically shaped as a wheelchair quilt. Those bottom corners are angled in so that it doesn't get caught in the wheels.
I got home around 2 PM after a bit of grocery shopping, and headed to my studio to load up the backing for 2 more of my quilts. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to load the back because the 108’’ wide backings have lots of wrinkles and deep creases:
I used to try to iron these backings….what a nightmare….the piece of fabric was so big and my ironing board was very small, but now I’ve read of a better solution from my FB group. As I roll it onto the lower bar, I lightly spray with water and pull taut as it rolls. Then I let it sit overnight and most of the wrinkles are taken care of.
Now, Lucy has not slept on my cutting/sewing tables since I bound the stack of quilts that used to be there...but since I've added 2 new quilts to the pile....voila...the princess is back:
I headed upstairs around 4 PM to get a start on dinner…I had leftover dough from the rolls, and leftover spaghetti sauce (from who knows what) and some ‘’getting punky’’ scallions that needed to be used, so I ended up making pizza for dinner. I have not made homemade pizza in FOREVER….and it was great to get back to it:
and as long as the oven was on, I made this Praline Buttermilk cake (Susie, you should definitely stop by for a piece…it was simple to make and yummy to eat! Michael said it had a coffee cake vibe...and that's exactly what I thought when I first read the recipe):
Michael and I watched a bit of TV in the evening, and ended with another THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW!
Leila saw a snowman in the quilt show just like the one she made a few years ago…and it was quilted by June!

Did i miss something? Leila went to a quilt show where?
Wish I could requilt that quilt.
