SHQ Show & Tell, Apricot/Sour Cream Scones, Janice loads a quilt

I am heartsick over the destruction of the White House...and I just can't post any more about this deceitful, misogynistic, felon, pedophile. As long as you're NOT watching FOX NEWS....you can find out the truth yourself.

Michael packed the car and I took off for quilting on Thursday (10/23).  I still don’t have a project to work on, so I just took knitting.  We had a bit of show and tell:

-isn't this absolutely spectacular????

and also a bit of discussion about the retreat next week (since most of the retreaters are SHQ members!)

I worked on Iris’s quilts when I got home, but didn’t get the second one finished.

I hopped up Friday morning (10/24) to work on finishing up the quilting on Iris’s quilts….since I didn’t want to quilt over the prairie points, I have bobbin ends for every row I quilted, and I want to show her how to bury the ends in the quilt sandwich…maybe she can get that done while I’m on retreat next week…then we’ll just need labeling and binding and they will be done!

By lunchtime it was finished, but I needed to pull out a bit of basting before calling her to see when we could meet to go over burying the ends.

After that, Michael spent a ton of time getting a new FIRESTICK hooked up to our TV and regaining all of the applications where we watch!  We had been having problems getting error messages while watching TV and we called COMPORIUM, and they tried to help, but ultimately determined we needed to call AMAZON.  We called AMAZON and they were absolutely NO HELP WHAT-SO-EVER!  Not to mention, we could barely understand the person we were speaking to, and had to ask her to repeat herself over and over.  Michael decided to stop into BEST BUY while he was out on Thursday…and when he described the problems, the guy immediately said that our firestick was dying (which is what Michael had suspected).  Now….if the BEST BUY knew that from the symptoms reported…what didn’t Amazon?!?!?!  Anyway, he bought a new one….got it all hooked up (which makes it sound really simple when it definitely wasn’t!) and I guess when we watch TV tonight, we’ll find out if everything is fixed!

Before 5 PM, Michael popped a huge bowl of popcorn and we headed up to our neighbor’s outdoor happy hour….and we had a wonderful time.

Met lots of people….found a bunch of people who are also disgusted with what’s going on in this country…..had some yummy food…and all in all just enjoyed ourselves.

When we came home, Michael made a grilled ham and cheese sandwich for our dinner and we settled in to watch our perfectly working (after he fixed 2 problems in the afternoon) TV…YAY!!!

Michael was up and out super early on Saturday (10/25) for golf.  I got a grocery list put together, then headed to the studio to start working on my very long TODO list.  First up was writing a sympathy card.  That is never a short process for me…I have to think about what I want to say for quite awhile…and I needed a bit of help from Michael, but finally it was done.

Then I started to make binding for the king-sized quilt I just finished quilting. I had to reclaim a lot of backing fabric, so that took me quite awhile…and halfway through it was time to start my dough for bread.  I eventually got 2 loaves baked…and we gave 2 half loves to our neighbors.

We had a very early dinner, which gave us a chance to watch 4 episodes of SIX FEET UNDER….leaving us just 2 more to finish up this series.

I made scones on Sunday morning (10/26):

ree

they were from a mix, but I think just as much work as from scratch!  What I was really looking for was ‘’add water and bake’’.  What I got was ‘’cut in butter, mix cream and egg together, then stir into mix’’.  They WERE excellent and we loved the flavor of apricot and sour cream.  We ate them while watching the last 2 episodes of SIX FEET UNDER…..Kathy, it was a totally neat ending.

I also mixed up cornbread batter

ree

and got that baked to take on retreat to go with my soup for dinner.

Janice showed up in the early afternoon and got a quilt loaded up:

and got the quilting started.  We started to pack the car…we’ll finish up tomorrow morning and then leave for retreat….so no blogs for a week!
