During an interview earlier this month on POLITICO's "The Conversation" with Dasha Burns, Donald Trump went on a racist and unhinged rant insisting that birthright citizenship is meant only for the babies of slaves. While that was the original purpose, the Supreme Court expanded birthright citizenship to immigrants in United States v. Wong Kim Ark (1898).

Michael packed the car up for me Thursday morning (12/18). I replenished the cookie plate:

and took it in for noshing at quilting…there were several other treats as well, and everyone was in a totally festive mood! I was dispiritedly working on my 192 snowball corners for a future quilt…and hating every minute of it…when Marvella showed me a different way and totally turned my attitude around! Actually, I mis-interpreted what she was showing me….but the mis-interpretation was so wonderful that I really don’t even mind doing them anymore. Trust me….I was on a ‘’high’’ for the rest of the day!!! We had some lovely show and tell:

I got home around 3 (after stops at the library, the bank, and dropping off coupons for Susan) and had just a lovely rest of the day. Michael and I turned on our tree and sat in the living room, reading our books and being so very content with our life!
We watched ‘’12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS EVE’’ in the evening, with Kelsey Grammer. This was a remake of one with actor Steven Webber that we watched a couple of nights ago….and we both liked the Steven Webber one better...mostly because the acting was better!

Michael and I shared breakfast Friday morning (12/19), then he went to work out before picking up Larry K and heading out to lunch with his LLB group.
I spent the day in the studio, working on the newest QoV:

and putting binding on another Beds=Dreams quilt:

I didn’t get all that far before it was time to pack up and head out for cookie decorating! Iris and I were supposed to go to this class, but her hubby decided to whisk her away for a romantic weekend….so Michael ended up taking the class with me. I didn’t even get a picture of him decorating because we had TEN cookies to do…..I’ve only ever done 6! But we got them all done and love them:

-Can you tell which box is Michael's and which is mine????

And he said he had a really fun time!
When we got home, we worked on a gift for AJ. Michael wanted to do a riff on the 12 days of Christmas, so he found 12 items to box up for her, with silly sayings....everything from 10 Hello Kitty balloons to 3 feet of garland:

Michael went golfing on Saturday (12/20), while I spent a bit of time at the post office (which I can’t even believe didn’t open until 9 AM!) The doors say 8 AM and the website says 8 AM....but how convenient...the employees bought one of those clock signs and hung it on the door with the hands pointing at 9 AM!!!
Anyway, I finally hit my studio to continue to work on quilting and binding for the rest of the day. A friend stopped by to drop off a bottle of wine and some chocolate….I think in part it was a thank you for all of the quilting help I have given her this year….it was so nice!
We decided to celebrate Christmas coming closer and closer, so it was champagne and puffy things (mini-quiches and egg rolls) and we watched the new KNIVES OUT movie on NETFLIX….just as complicated and fun as the first 2!

Sunday morning (12/21) we woke up to a crying and crying kitty….Lucy. While we were waiting for the vet to open, she disappeared, and the bad thing is….there are a million places to hide in our house where we would never find a kitty! Michael finally found her and he sequestered her in the front bedroom until the vet appointment.
My honey wanted some of his double stuffed Oreos dipped, so I whipped those out:

and into his cookie jar before it was time to go to our vet appointment.
The vet couldn’t immediately identify that anything was wrong, but gave her 2 pain shots and some pain medicine for home. We might eventually get x-rays, but she has to be sedated for that….which is its own set of problems. So, we brought her home and separated our kitties. The vet wanted to make sure her elimination was proceeding as it should, so the only way to do that was to pen Lucy upstairs and pen Ethel downstairs. Now, in the beginning, when they were kitties, they were the best of friends….but as they have gotten older they are rather indifferent to one another and don’t really interact. Well…..if you could have seen them, you would have thought they were the best of friends…..with Ethel sitting on one side of the gate, and Lucy sitting on the other….neither one moving….staring at each other.
Luckily, by the time we went to bed we ascertained that Lucy had pee’d and pooped without difficulty, so that at least eliminated the specter of one problem.
We settled in to watch another great movie in the evening…SINGIN’ IN THE RAIN!

I spent Monday (12/22) continuing to sew on my binding:

and keeping an eye on and worrying about my baby. She slept downstairs with me all day. Michael watched basketball and ran a bunch of errands including buying wet cat food….after our disastrous attempt to get pain meds from the dropper into Lucy’s mouth! The cat food did the trick….she was willing to eat it with the pain meds squirted on top.
We spent some time in the afternoon, trimming some plants and getting our front bed cleaned up:

AND, by dinnertime….I had a totally finished quilt for Beds=Dreams:

I thawed Mexican Chicken Soup out from the freezer for our dinner and we had that along with some leftover corn bread….also from the freezer….for dinner. I got to knit while watching TV in the evening.

Guessing first pic of cookies is Michael's. (Bare edges...🙂)
I thought Micheal’s cookies on the top……so what is Marvella’s trick for snowballs that makes you like them?
Michaels cookies on the bottom is my guess
