Stuart Adams, the Republican president of the Utah Senate, just intervened to loosen the age of consent laws, after an adult was charged with having sex with a 13 year old.....the adult is a relative of Adams.
Notice any patterns here?

Thursday (8/7) was all about quilting:

AND eating (I thought my rolls turned out particularly well):

I skipped dinner (still full from lunch) but we watched SOMEBODY FEED PHIL in Amsterdam in the evening…and then had a STROOPWAFFLE in honor of the show :~).

Friday morning (8/8), Michael headed out to the grocery store, while I put together his yoghurt (which had been fermenting overnight in the crockpot):

before heading across the street for my massage. I hit the library after my massage…so of course…that was it for the rest of the day!!! I haven’t had anything good to read for a bit, and picked up 3 books from my latest favorite cozy mystery author Nell Goddin (if you need a list of the books, as you’ll want to read them in order…just let me know. To get over a divorce, a woman moves to a charming village in France....) and that’s what I did for the rest of the day…just sat in the living room, with my feet up and read a book!!!!
At 6:30 PM we left to pick up Sandy (which was just a tiny bit of a kerfuffle when she didn’t answer her door and I almost pulled an Aunt Violet), but finally she was in the car and we headed to Fort Mill for the play WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLF??

It was INCREDIBLY well acted, but hard to watch and I think we were all kind of silent in the car on the way home.

Michael headed out to a car meeting on Saturday morning (8/9), while I cleaned up the kitchen, then made another run of ham and pickle…and finally attempted to make Susie’s toffee all by myself.

I don’t think I had the heat high enough (so it wasn’t as dark as it should have been), and I didn’t mix in the almonds evenly throughout, and I can’t get it spread as thinly as Susie does on the baking pan and I still think there’s too much chocolate, but even with all of that, it still tastes incredible!!! I’m sure I’ll get better as I make it more! Finally, I headed downstairs to load up Sara’s next quilt:

Michael and I got cleaned up and I boxed up a bit of the toffee as a small hostess gift:

before heading out around 6 PM to go to Laura and Dave’s for dinner. She made spaghetti and meatballs and sausage (Michael's favorite), a great salad and garlic bread. The meal was wonderful, and after playing 5 CROWNS and SKYJO:

we stopped for a FABULOUS raspberry cake:

Their kitty, Mango, was totally fun to watch:

We were home before 11 PM and Michael hopped right into bed as he had an early tee time on Sunday.

Michael ended up golfing on Sunday (8/10) as there was some kind of outside event on the course on Saturday….so that means we both will be screwed up all week as to what day of the week it is! It has already started….when he came home on Sunday, Iris was here visiting, and I asked if he was going to the movies ‘’tomorrow’’, and he answered ‘’no, but definitely on Monday!’’ See….he was already thinking it was his regular Saturday golf day!!!
Anyway, I worked on Sara’s quilt all day and almost got it finished, and also started to sew together those blocks I re-found that Michael laid out awhile ago:

I made a smurfy, fresh tomato pizza for dinner:

And we watched TV for the rest of the evening while I reclaimed some long arm fabric, hoping to get enough to make another dark brown binding.
And 10 years ago....
*** Nobody told me that when you get a husband....the ears are sold separately. ***
*** Being 20 in the 70's was a lot more fun than being 70 in the 20's. ***
*** It's true that exercise helps with decision making....I went for a run this morning and decided to never do that again! ***
Loved all of the Show and Tell quilts! Your toffee looks wonderful, the raspberry cake looks divine, and your tomato pizza looks unbelievable! I really liked all of your 'funnies'!
