SHQ Show & Tell, dinner with Diane & Mark, another UFO, Iris sugar cookies

I cannot imagine a more childish or disgusting response to the THOUSANDS of NO KINGS rallies, than posting a video of yourself, in a crown, (ostensibly) dumping feces on the American people. This is the President of the United States.

This certainly shows what tRUMP thinks (or doesn't) about the millions of people who are so upset with what is going on that they continue to have these peaceful protests. It doesn't affect him in any way, and this is the person who is ''leading'' our country.

Michael packed up the car for quilting on Thursday (10/16) and off I went!  I got Pam’s quilt trimmed, and my GINORMOUS quilt trimmed and wove in all of the bobbin ends (and did a little demo on that!).  I didn’t manage to pull a new project together, so I just took Michael’s sweater and knit on it for a bit.

We had lovely show and tell:

and when I came home, I got to video chat with Janice for a lovely visit as we didn’t get to do it yesterday.

I read my book for a bit after that before Diane and Mark: picked us up and we headed out to dinner at OPEN RICE….it was a FABULOUS dinner, with lots of good things to share:

-BBQ spare ribs

ree

-char siu (that Mark made for us as an appetizer one night at their house)

ree

-pot stickers

ree

-Michael's crab & shrimp fried rice

ree

-my chicken bulgogi.....HEAVEN!!!!

Really, we always have such a good and relaxing time with Diane & Mark!

When they dropped us off and we were punching the code into our garage door opener, I said to Michael ''do you think we should hide a key outside in case the battery in this ever dies?'' (Guess What?!?!? Sunday morning, the very next day, Michael was outside with the wind shield repair guy for my car and tried to open the garage door.....NO GO!!! Michael said I totally jinxed us!!!)

Michael and I settled in, in the evening, to watch a couple of (emotionally draining) episodes of 6 FEET UNDER.  Remember how I told you that I thought we were on track to finish it up before it disappears on October 31st?  Well, tonight we figured out we might be in trouble….as I will be on retreat the last week in October!!!!

I spent Friday morning (10/17) in the studio, loading up backing fabric from Sandy D.  I have one lo-o-o-ong piece of backing…..with 3 small quilts to go on top!

I got the first one laid on:

before leaving for my massage.

When I got home, Michael and I took off for Robyn’s Fabrics to pick up some new things for the living room.  We are still waiting on pillow forms, but we got the rest of the stuff arranged and we LOVE IT!  We both think it makes our living room look lighter, which is good because it seems like our houses are all so dark.

We stopped at LOWE’s foods on the way home and Michael got a warm rye bread….he is always on the search for the perfect rye bread from his youth.  By the time we got home, he and Freya headed up to the dog park, and I took a nap….I think I’m still recovering from BG’s visit :~).

Saturday morning (10/18) Michael made breakfast for me before taking off for the local NO KINGS rally:

I have to show you this...when Michael makes me breakfast, Lucy sits about a foot away and watches me eat every bite:

After eating, I started the quilting on Sandy’s first quilt….it is a cat quilt, so I used the ‘’paws’’ stitch:

We got cleaned up and left the house around 1 PM to attend friend Jan H’s 90th birthday party:

It was a wonderful celebration….we saw lots of Sun City people we knew….Jan looked absolutely gorgeous and we had a terrific time!  I got an embroidered card made in the morning:

And remember that toffee I made? It was a gift for Jan, and thanks to BG's reminder, I had the perfect box:

When we got home, I got a few more rows done on Sandy’s quilt before settling in with my honey to watch THE MARTIAN.  We both read the book (I’ve read it twice) and the movie was pretty good, although never as good as the book!  We can’t wait for the HAIL MARY movie from the same author, supposedly coming in November….I absolutely LOVED that book and have also read it twice!

Michael left for golf before 8 AM on Sunday (10/19), while I did a bunch of household chores before hitting the studio around 10 AM.

I finished off Sandy’s first quilt…left about an inch of space before loading up the second one:

Since all 3 of her quilts are ‘’cat themed’’, I’m going to use the paw prints stitch out on all of them.

While that was going on, I dropped back to another UFO.  Last year in April when BG was visiting, we worked on the same quilt project (a favorite thing to do when we get together) and we started quilt tops from a free pattern called MIRROR, MIRROR.  She was working with purples and I was working with teals….no big surprise for either of those :~) (If you want to read all about it...it's here: BG's here!!!!! We start new quilts....).

So, that’s the UFO I pulled out:

BG helped me to put it up on the design wall before she left, and I was absolutely kicking myself…..SO CLOSE TO FINISHING….why on earth did I stop?  I need a couple of more small borders and it will be done.

If you look at the picture, you can see the left and right side ended with a pieced border, but not the top and bottom, so I had to make more border squares before I could get them sewn on…and that’s what I worked on for the rest of the day.

Iris has been working on her own rolled out sugar cookies and royal icing with her daughters:

And 10 years ago....

*** It's hard to believe that bears made porridge....and the only thing wrong with it was the temperature. ***

*** Not to brag, but I just went into another room and actually remembered why I was there....it was the bathroom...but still. ***

*** Cars these days have too many gadgets...I put it in reverse the other day and it played a video of someone getting run over by a car! ***
