HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!!!!!

I headed out to quilting on Thursday (5/28) after my honey packed the car.  I had 2 people who couldn’t make my class in May, so I got them started on what they had to get done, and worked on my QoV blocks the rest of the time.  We had some lovely show and tell:

and since Carolina was finally back from her 54 day cruise, I finally took in my MIRROR MIRROR quilt as well (she is crazy about the color teal, so I wanted to make sure she had a chance to see it):

I had forgotten that border of 2-1/2 inch squares all around it.....you don't see those when it's on the bed!

When I got home, Marvella came over for just a bit of cutting instruction, and then I set my hair and read my book in the late afternoon, after which Michael and I changed clothes and headed out to our anniversary dinner at 131 Main:

We split a Ceasar Salad:

then I had grouper (which my dad ALWAYS ordered if it was available, once they moved to Florida):

and Michael had crab cakes:

We finished off the evening with a warm brownie, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and this fabulous white chocolate/dark chocolate sauce:

It was a lovely evening and a wonderful anniversary….21 years!

Friday morning (5/29) I was up and out early to pick up Pat and head to Matthews for a visit with Jan:

We had a lovely time talking and we decided to have lunch at the sit down restaurant where she lives…and it was EXCELLENT!  Pat brought a bit of show and tell:

and we finally headed home around 2 PM, and for some reason I was absolutely exhausted and spent the afternoon reading my book (after baking a chocolate cake).

I finally finished THE CORRESPONDENT and it was EXCELLENT!  I wasn’t sure I would like it…(the entire book is just a series of letters) and it took just a bit of time to get into it….but it was a truly lovely book, I highly recommend it!!!

Around dinnertime I finally had some energy and Michael and I put together our second trifle….DEATH BY CHOCOLATE:

I was up early Saturday (5/30) to get a customer quilt loaded up:

Michael was watching the weather the entire day to make sure I could keep my machine going (thunder storms were all around us) and by dinnertime,  I was over half-way done:

I headed upstairs to change clothes and get ready for company.  Dave & Laura:

and Susan & Josh:

came over for another evening of Tripoli…with a brand new Tripoli board made by Laura & Dave:

I don’t remember ever laughing so much while playing this game….even though I was the BIG LOSER!!!!  We served our new trifle and everyone liked it, with one guest labeling it SUPERB!!!!  I think Michael’s addition of the toffee bits really made it!!!

On Sunday (5/31) I worked on the customer t-shirt quilt and got the quilting finished, and got all of the bobbin ends woven in and off of the frame.  I also got a skinny, dark border put on the HST quilt:

and then used all of my scraps to get an outer border on it:

Just before dinner I got a backing pieced for this quilt as I hope to load it up on Monday.

Happy Anniversary again! You and Michael look so great in the picture. Can you believe it has been 21 years? Where has the time gone? I love your MIRROR MIRROR quilt and the HST! Will you share the recipe for the Death by Chocolate trifle? It looks yummy and Claude loves chocolate.
