SHQ Show & Tell, Lemon/Blueberry Trifle, Carol & Ed, Diane & Mark

Donald Trump has said he “does not think about Americans’ financial situation” after official figures showed US inflation surged to a three-year high.

America’s consumer prices index rose from 3.3pc to 3.8pc last month in a jump that was bigger than analysts had predicted.

It means prices are rising at a faster pace than wages for the first time since Mr Trump’s inauguration last year, with average hourly earnings up by just 3.6pc in the year to April.

Thursday (5/14) was all about quilting (and eating as it was our first of the month pot luck!)  Before I left the house, I packed up 10 quilts to drop off at dialysis:

We had lovely show and tell:

-Marvella got all caught up on her blocks of the month

And remember my HST quilt where I told you I had 196 snowball corners?

Well - June took all of those teeny, tiny HST's (and added 4 more for a total of 200!!!) and turned them into a placemat:

I LOVE her design!!! I just have to bind it and turn it in to Janice I hope! (Because Janice is also doing placemats to turn into her guild....) here are 2 she has completed:

And Sonya showed off her completed block from the previous month's class:

Michael left the house on Friday (5/8) to pick up Ed and head out to lunch (and do a few errands on the way home), while I continued to work on my newest quilt.

When Michael came home, we put together our dessert for Saturday….our first trifle in the beautiful bowl BG gifted to me:

-limoncello infused pound cake

-lemon pudding

-a layer of blueberries

-then a layer of Cool Whip, followed by the same again

-thank goodness it fits in the fridge...even with the lid on!

I went back to work after we were done, and by dinnertime, I had all of my fabric cut and my HST’s sewn together:

Unfortunately, I somehow sewed 6 of them in the wrong orientation, so while watching TV in the evening, I got them all ripped out.

Other than a lovely and long conversation with Sandy’s friend Carol on Saturday morning (5/9) I got sucked into my library book until early afternoon!  Michael was out golfing and texted me that things were going well….so he was going to stay out for 18, instead of the original 9 holes he had planned.  I spent the rest of the afternoon, working with my new fat quarter bundle, continuing to sew HST’s together.  Our company arrived at 7 PM:

-Carol & Ed

-Diane & Mark

-my honey and Diane

and we spent the night playing Tripoli:

and eating Lemon/Blueberry Trifle!

Sunday morning (5/10) we had our yearly visits from a health care provider.  I’m not sure what ATRIUM HEALTH gets out of this, but she went over our health (current and history), reviewed all medications, asked about routine checks (i.e.mammograms, bone density, etc) and checked our lungs and blood pressure.  AND, I found out later that she went from our house right over to friend Pat's house!

After that, Michael headed to the Lake House for a workout, and I headed to the studio to try out a new spool of thread on the long arm.  Well…my problem is NOT my old thread…as the new stuff that was delivered in Saturday's mail, broke just as often as the old stuff.

I did a bit more cleaning and buffing in the bobbin area, and oriented my needle to 5:30 instead of 6 o’clock…and suddenly got a row and a half without any breaks…..YAY!!!

Paula stopped by and dropped off fabric for a label she would like, and stayed for a bit of a chat…..and by the time she left…my customer quilt was done….YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!

I headed upstairs to try out a new recipe for a high protein mac & cheese for dinner that both of us thought was excellent!!

And 10 years ago.....
