I was up at 7 AM on Wednesday (10/21) for an appointment at ORTHO CAROLINA for myself at 8 AM. I have been having a lot of pain in my right hip, and wanted to get it checked out, as it is impacting my ability to go up the stairs! The doctor has decided that it is bursitis and has given me some exercises to do, along with icing and aspirin crème. I headed over to the library afterwards….very grateful that voting started at 8:30 AM, so I got to vote before heading home. I was home just after 9 AM and video chatted with Janice….WHO HAS A CONTRACT ON A HOUSE……YAYAYAYAYAY!!!! The house is in Avon CT, hopefully closing before Thanksgiving.
Remember this?:

It’s been in time out on the back of my chair for OVER A YEAR due to thread breakage issues…..I dug it back out and got it loaded up (for the 3rd time) and spent the afternoon attempting to finish it. My thread behaved and I just have 2 more rows to go and I will be finished.
And I have lovely show and tell from Janice, who has completed a new top for a men’s cancer quilt (she has already found a group in Connecticut that makes quilts for donation and has attended their once per month meeting):

Thursday (10/22) was all about quilting….I got some binding made and worked on my regular project, and we had some lovely show and tell:

I did a bit of quilting when I got home, and the errant QoV is finally done (except for weaving in a BA-ZILLION ends!):

Sally and I headed out for a late breakfast on Friday (10/23), and we decided to go to the new Paris Baguette….it was a bit overwhelming:

You take a tray, a covering piece of waxed paper and a pair of tongs, and walk around selecting what you would like. I wanted about a hundred things!!!! But this is what I eventually got:

We had a lovely and LONG breakfast and solved all of the problems of the world! And, something really cool happened when I was checking out….a young woman came over to me and said ‘’I think you are my knitting teacher! Did you teach knitting at the library several years ago?’’ I knew she looked familiar, but never would have guessed that that is where I knew her from. She showed me the beautiful scarf she had knitted, told me she was still knitting and enjoying it…and thanked me about a dozen times for teaching her:

That was totally cool and really made me feel like I should get my act together and do it again!
Anyway, once I got home, I made 3 runs of toffee, and baked a couple of loaves of bread:

and sent half a loaf over to our neighbors who just had 2 gall bladder surgeries, in 2 days, at 2 different hospitals!!! Luckily Jim is home now and sounded very chipper when the bread was delivered.
I sewed a bit in the afternoon, and Michael joined me to layout some leftover blocks from my One Block Wonder:

I haven't figured out yet how I'm going to turn it into a dialysis quilt...but it will stay up on the wall for inspiration while I'm figuring it out!

Of course, since there was fresh bread, Michael had gas housers for breakfast on Saturday (10/24):

I did a ton of paperwork in the morning, and we left at 1 PM for MAYTAG VIRGIN at CAST in Charlotte.

We used to go to CAST many, many years ago….then they lost their funding and venue for several years and are trying to get back to producing plays….we met Linda M there and sat together. We liked the play, the actors were excellent, but thought the playwright definitely could have tightened up the writing and the play should have been 15 – 20 minutes shorter in the second act. The last song of the play….AT LAST…..was definitely apropos considering how long it took to get there :~).
We were home in time to feed and walk the dog before heading over to Ed and Carol’s house, to also meet Diane & Mark and play games the rest of the evening…..there was a lot of laughing…and a bit of serious talking and it was all wonderful!

I spent Sunday (10/25) finishing up making all of the food I wanted to take for retreat…and doing a bit of sewing on the peppers:

It was champagne and puffy things for dinner:

and an evening of snuggling while watching the original DOC MARTIN.
And 10 years ago.....
*** The older I get, the tighter companies are putting lids on jars. ***
*** Don't forget to turn your clocks back.....wish I could turn mine back to when I was 20. ***
*** Nov 1st - don't even act like you didn't have candy for breakfast! ***

I Cant believe scrooge was 10 years ago!!! Why does it go so fast?
Wow, haven't seen a "Loree" quilt in a long time. That was a fun one to do...I should think about doing that one again...
