Travelers waiting in airport security lines across the US will now be met with a new video blaming Democratic lawmakers for the government shutdown. It's a notable departure from standard practice, as TSA checkpoint videos rarely feature political commentary.
Are you kidding me? Are there no lengths to which the Republicans will not go? They control the House, the Senate and the White House, and have been told by the Speaker of the House NOT to show up for work....but Democrats are being blamed....UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Thursday (10/9) was all about quilting for me and errands for my honey. He didn’t have that many places to go (UPS, post office to mail Rick’s quilt, vitamin store, ALDI’s, the library to pick up my books and return others, and BJ’s) but there was a lot of driving involved since they are not close together :~).
According to the Post Office, Rick's quilt will be delivered to him next Tuesday (the 14th). I don't know if other people are like me, but I will have a LOT of JOY each day...thinking about it being delivered and imagining him opening it. It will give me so much pleasure thinking about it for the next 5 days :~).
We had some lovely show and tell:

I finished sewing all of my 3 strip strata together at quilting, so now I need to find another project for next Thursday.
I got home before 3 PM and sat and read my new book for a bit before my honey came home from working out. He stopped to talk to Paul and Nancy on the way home and they told him to try to convince me to come and visit. Now, Paul and Nancy are the first people we met before we even moved in here! Paul kept track of our house being built and sent us pictures all along the way, so I got something to drink and we hopped in the golf cart and headed back up to their house. What a lovely visit it was:

we talked and talked for a couple of hours about everything under the sun!
When we got home, I made up a couple of ham/cheese/poppyseed sliders and Michael cooked some broccoli and that was dinner!

Michael left around 9:30 AM to pick up our kitchen chairs on Friday morning (10/10)…amazingly already done when they were supposed to take 5 weeks!!!
Then he was supposed to meet the guys for lunch at Crossridge, but that got cancelled...so, he swung by BJ’s again to pick up bunches of cookies to take to the golf course maintenance shed. He said they are doing a terrific job maintaining the course this year and he usually tries to drop off goodies twice a year in addition to my big bags of White Trash at Christmas. I have to say…this is definitely just one of the many reasons I love this man…he thanks others that most people don’t even give a thought to.
In the meantime, I was downstairs, loading up a quilt from Pam:

And since ‘’dad’’ wasn’t home….I had company:
-Freya

-Lucy

I got everything set up and kicked off the program…and of course….as so often happens….since I wanted to knock this quilt out quickly and load up something special while BG is here…my thread started breaking….4 times across the first half row! Of course I had to rip back stitches….as far away from myself as was possible…..ouch…my back!!! I had put in a new needle, and it was a brand new spool of thread….so I changed the needle again and hoped for the best. Nope, breakage continued, so I changed the spool….breakage continued….I finally moved the needle hole a hair’s breath to the right…and that seemed to do the trick:

My honey was home shortly after NOON and spent a good bit of time screwing the chair seats back down:

I LOVE them!!! And he does too!! After he was done, he took off to practice at the golf course, and I continued to quilt.
Iris swung by around 5:30 PM to pick me up for another cookie decorating class. This was a short one with just 3 cookies making up a Frankenstein monster:

but we had such a good time doing it. I am really looking forward to the Christmas cookies as Janice will be here for one of the classes and is coming with us!!!!

I had 2 things I urgently wanted to get done Saturday morning (10/11), and I accomplished both. First up was making toffee (Yes Diane, I finally used up the 2 sticks of butter than had been sitting in my mixing bowl for at least a WEEK!!), and this time I think I corrected everything I did wrong last time….I kept up a rolling boil while stirring, I scattered the nuts in gradually instead of dumping them in a clump….I moved the cookie sheet over to the burner I had been using to boil the mixture, which warmed it up so it was easier to spread the mixture all of the way out to the corners, and then, since I am using dark chocolate and Susie uses milk chocolate, I cut down on the amount (because it really does taste stronger than the milk) and now have a good ratio of chocolate to toffee. I thought it tasted awesome (of course I had to do a bit of quality control tasting while I was breaking it up!!!):

Next up was getting sausage soup in crockpot for our dinner.

Michael went to work out and hit the grocery store on the way home and then we both got changed and headed across the street for a celebration of life for our good friend Ralph R. Candyce did a beautiful job setting up the service, she spoke first, then asked his 2 sisters , his 2 sons and her 3 children to each give their reflections/memories of Ralph. All of the stories were wonderful and just cemented our thoughts of what a great and funny person Ralph was.
I texted BG and Steven when we got home, and they headed on over from the RV park:

We had dinner and talked for a long time before Steven left to head back to the RV and BG and I got machines and supplies set up for sewing on Sunday.

So good to see BG visiting you!
