So, I have to tell you a funny story. You may be aware that there will be another chance here in the US for a viewing of a total eclipse of the sun…later this year in April. Michael and I have talked on and off about trying to see another one. At knitting last week, one of my students casually mentioned that they are going to visit a sister during that time, to try to see the eclipse. I jokingly asked if there was any chance that the sister would like 2 more guests…indicating that Michael and I would even happily sleep on the floor. After class we continued to text about it the next day….and she warned me that it would not be a quiet household, as there would likely already be 7 other adults and 3 – 4 kids and assorted pets there. I said we would be ok with that…..THEN she wrote and also said that her sister had a BOA CONSTRICTOR in the house….but my student had never seen it out of its aquarium!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those of you who know me well can imagine my response to that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thanked her for the graciousness of her and her sister for even considering extending an invitation to us, but that that was certainly a deal breaker and we would not be coming….can you imagine if it had all worked out…and then I only found out once we got there!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!
And here’s the show and tell from quilting last week:
***********************************************
So, I had a fabulous visit with Janice and Dennis…..I got there around 4 and got set up and sewing right away:
My main focus was to get the remaining blocks done for our bed quilt…and that happened:
while Janice was working on her new block for a second QoV:
I got all of the blocks done, and most of the strata for a leaders and enders project at home:
AND dug down in my project box:
and found a cut out for a quilt I didn’t even remember was in there….
that took up Sunday, while Janice was binding one of her quilts:
and I got the 2 borders on, on Monday morning before I left for home:
Janice and I both agreed that the picture in NO WAY shows the beauty of this fabric, which I am 100% sure was from Corinne (thanks Corinne!!)
I was home safe and sound by 3 PM on Monday….only to find out that my expensive bottle of Amaretto leaked all over the back of the car :~(. My wonderful honey spent about 2 hours cleaning and cleaning and unpacking the car, while I got in a nap and a shower before leaving for knitting.
I was home from that before 8 PM and just collapsed for the rest of the night.
*** Whenever I see a woman, in dire need of a makeover…who is slightly overweight and wearing stretchy clothes and sensible shoes….with win and chocolate on her breath….carrying a tattered book, snacks, and the TV remote…I stop and think to myself….’’I really need to more that stupid mirror.’’ ***
Loving the beautiful colors in the new potato chip quilt!
