Spiral quilt in columns, Fried rice for dinner, Dinner tutorial with squash, SHQ Show & Tell

Senator Alex Padilla was forcibly removed, shoved to the floor and handcuffed for trying to ask questions at a White House Security Press briefing.

Why doesn't this scare Republicans? What is happening?

Fascism is here.

I hurried to the studio on Sunday morning (6/8), anxious to get the customer quilt finished, and by lunchtime, I was done:

Although I do NOT like to quilt with minke….it does show the pattern beautifully (and my client was THRILLED when she picked it up):

After that I worked on the spiral quilt until dinnertime:

and I am thrilled to say that I did not make a mistake in sewing it together....moving each block from the wall over to my sewing machine to be sewn…thank goodness!

Michael and I had some leftover rice in the fridge…and many, many years ago Mary Jo had the same thing in her fridge and I managed to turn that and a few leftovers into fried rice for dinner…and it was fun to recreate that :~):

My honey headed out late for golf on Monday (6/9), while Sally picked me up for breakfast at STACKS…..we always have a wonderful time and talk FOREVER and I didn’t get home until 11:30!!!

I read for several hours before heading downstairs to recreate my rainbow heart. I wanted one that was stiffer and wouldn’t curl when I was wearing it….I think the second one, stitched out on TIMTEX will be better.

My honey came home with a 47 (which he wasn’t wild about), but said he had a good time playing with the guys…so that was great.

He and Freya headed up to the dog park and I got a bit more fruit/veg fabric ironed and cut for my future placemats.

Michael had a late lunch and wasn’t interested in dinner, and I just had some cheese and crackers before settling in to TV watching.

I had time Tuesday morning (6/10) to cut strips for a border on a Beds=Dreams quilt before leaving for the (long awaited) appointment with the back surgeon.  I liked this guy A LOT and asked him a ton of questions….I went into the appointment convinced that surgery was the way to go.  The PA had indicated that the surgery was to fuse 2 vertebrae together, but when I asked the surgeon to describe in detail…it was NOTHING like that.  There was talk of scraping and cutting….removing parts of 4 of my vertebrae, and inserting 6 screws and 2 rods!!!  Even with all of that, I was still leaning towards it when I asked him the final question which was ‘’based on my MRI and symptoms, would you do it’’?  His answer was ‘’only as the very last resort…I would try everything else first’’.  WOW – talk about flipping my attitude on its head!  He and I had already discussed things to be done…and unlike the PA, he felt Physical Therapy would have a positive effect.  I’ve been waiting on an appointment almost as long as I’ve been waiting to see the surgeon…and I start physical therapy at the end of June.  He was also a bit against the surgery due to the timing….Michael and I are going to Paris on a cruise at the end of September…..that would only be 2 months out from surgery….and he didn’t feel that I would feel like going on a cruise at that time.  Based on my last joint replacement (which was no where near as invasive as the back surgery would be) I have to agree with him.  So….no surgery for now….stay tuned and as things develop, I’ll keep you in the loop.  The last thing he said was ‘’I’m not going anywhere…try what I have suggested, and after that, if nothing has worked, we can still schedule the surgery.’’

For a change I had a bunch of errands to do on the way home….FED EX for giant copies of a pattern for the quilting project Iris and I hope to do, the cleaners at Food Lion for some sewing questions, ALDIs for a bit of food, the library to make sure my APP for requesting e-books is working, and the bank for some $$$.  I left home after 10 AM and didn’t get home until 3 PM.

I read until Michael got home from his chiro appointment and we talked a bit before I headed to the kitchen for dinner.  A friend gave me several zucchinis and yellow squash (I don’t know how she got them so early in the season!), but that was the basis of dinner.  Here’s the tutorial:

-saute a mess of onions

-add in mushrooms

-add the zucchini and yellow squash

-some tomatoes

-some leftover pesto

-2 to 3 tablespoons of oregano

-add in the cooked pasta

-and serve with shaved Parmesan on top

Michael left before 7 PM for the movies and Iris came over for a couple of hours.  We talked a LOT about our quilting project, and I sent her home with a bunch of homework. I don’t know how she can get stuff done with 2 small children at home, but she said she’ll just plug away at it. This is the quilt we are making:

Michael left early for golf on Wednesday (6/11) while I SKYPE’d with Janice, followed by quick trips to ALDI’s and Harris Teeter.  I was home by NOON and headed downstairs to sew together my border strips and get them attached to my Beds=Dreams quilt:

I started to load a customer quilt, but stopped to SKYPE with BG around dinnertime.  I headed upstairs for leftovers and to spend the night with my honey :~).

At 9 PM I finally made myself get up to use all of the lemons I bought before our trip to see the kids....I made lemon squares to take to quilting:

And here's just a little quick show and tell from Thursday (6/12) quilting:

And 10 years ago....

*** I wanna go back to the days when my biggest anxiety was stopping the cassette tape before the DJ started speaking when recording the top 10. ***

*** I'm going to retire and live off of my savings....what I'll do the second day I have no idea! ***

I remember making a similar fried rice many times...any leftover vegetables , even "non-traditional" fried rice vegetables, got added in...
