Totally finished quilt - disappearing hourglass, SHQ Show & Tell
Our house/dog/cat sitter came by Saturday morning (9/5), just to re-aquaint herself with the animals and where everything is. I quilted and sewed on binding all day and by mid-afternoon, I had another totally done quilt:
and the quilting was done on my black/white heart quilt. Of course, as the last row was quilting, I realized I forgot to embroider a label on the front :~(, so I quickly did that on my second quilt:

Sunday morning (9/6) I ran over to Pat’s house to buy one of her cross-body bags….I decided I wasn’t lugging my purse all around Seattle and the ship, and she had several available. I stopped for a flu shot on the way home, then took a shower and got dressed up in time to pick up Susan and head into the Booth Theatre in Charlotte for LATE NIGHT CATECHISM. Susan bought tickets months ago and asked me to go with her…and the show was INCREDIBLE. Although I am not Catholic (and neither is she), I have had and continue to have many Catholic friends…..this was a 2 hour, 1 nun tour-de-force of improv and she was EXCELLENT and FABULOUS.
We laughed so much…..a truly wonderful show.
I didn’t get home until after 5 PM, and just had a light dinner while we watched the original DOC MARTIN all evening.

The only thing I remember doing on Monday (9/7) in addition to laundry and packing for Alaska, was finally processing some of my basil into pesto:

WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE! WE ARE HERE! (with apologies to Horton Hears a Who) We got home from our Alaska cruise around 7:30 PM on Tuesday night (9/22) after a little snafu at the airport. We ended up getting in about an hour early (must have picked up a heck of a tailwind), and then our pick-up driver got caught in horrendous accident traffic on the way to get us, and ended up calling his wife out to take a different route to the airport to pick us up.
Anyway, we were finally home, safe and sound….and our dog/cat/house sitter always leaves us a lovely dinner…this time it was a yummy pot of soup, Italian bread, a salad and a small dessert! We fell upon that while sitting in front of the boob tube and did little else until we went to bed…having gotten up again at 4:30 AM to get the airport.

On Wednesday (9/23), we started the job of unpacking, and laundry and grocery shopping and all of those things you need to do when you come home from 2 weeks away.
I did manage to do a bit of quilting, but ran into a thread break problem,
and just didn’t have the stamina or patience to deal with it in the late afternoon, so I just put my feet up and watched something mindless on TV. If you haven’t heard already…the second season of LEANNE is on NETFLIX and well worth a watch (the bad news is…only 10 episodes instead of the 16 in the first season….BOO! HISS!!)

Thursday (9/24) was all about quilting…Michael packed up my car and I headed out….we had lovely show and tell (although Pam asked how I could possibly have show and tell when I had been gone for 2 weeks, but I showed the quilt above that I finished just before vacation!):
and Laura brought a Raspberry Dream cake in for her birthday…which was TDF: TO DIE FOR!!!!
When I got home I had a visit from Pam R, then Paula stopped by to drop off a quilt and chat a bit, then Barb (house sitter) stopped by to pick up the rest of her things.
We had soup for dinner, and vegged in front of the TV….still not totally recovered from the time difference, but getting there.
And 10 years ago.....
