My honey left super early for golf on Monday (10/11), while I didn’t get up until after 7 AM. I got my blog out and got my binding ironed and set up to do the second half:
with my faithful Lucy checking out the birds....or a gecko....or something:
When that was finished, I made a bit of breakfast and then stitched down the label on the back of the quilt….generally the last thing I do to have a TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT:
After that I made up some pastry crème:
because I want to send some of the cookies with Michael for his rehearsal tonight.
I put away my binding machine from the kitchen table and then headed to the studio and got another run of HST’s done:
I brought down all of my leftover bits of binding from the kitchen…ironed them flat again…and proceeded to make strata as the start to making 4 patches with them:
I headed upstairs after 4 PM and Michael asked me if I had any plans for dinner….I said no…but I felt like I was being really lazy and a terrible wife, so I headed to the kitchen. I had a quart of chicken stock, made from the rotisserie chicken carcass….so I skimmed the fat off of the top and used it to sauté finely diced onions, celery and mushrooms. I sprinkled that with flour and cooked it for a minute…and headed outside to cut a big sprig of rosemary and a large sage leaf. Those were both chopped and added into the skillet along with the quart of stock and 1/4 cup of sherry. I simmered that until it cooked down a bit while Michael was boiling some egg noodles and after I turned off the heat, I stirred in the last of the chopped, cooked chicken. We layered the noodles in bowls and topped it with the chicken in sauce….MAN…it was really tasty :~). I made a bit of ganache and then put together 11 Boston Crème Pie cookie cups for Michael to take to rehearsal…and filled the rest of the cookies as well:
He left just after 6:30 PM and I headed downstairs with a glass of wine to continue working on my 4 patches:
I got a few of my strata cut before Paula called....her company was gone so she came down to watch another eipsode of THE BIG LEAP.
We're doing better....it only took 1-1/2 hours to watch a 45 minute show :~).
*** My entire life can be summed up in one sentence….
‘’Well, THAT didn’t go as planned.’’ ***
When are they going to make that screen where I can reach in and grab one of those cookies ??!!!
Mine did!!!😁
I don't know...I think that squiggle quilt needs to be a keeper...it has YOU written all over it.
