Totally finished quilt - One Block Wonder, bricks for parents, SHQ Show & Tell

Trump sees his slate of D.C. vanity projects a "welcome distraction" from an ongoing affordability crisis, but MS NOW slammed the idea.

"Newsflash, it's not working," MS NOW reporter Jake Traylor said.

I got the HST quilt labeled on Monday morning (6/1)...I thought it was kind of a neat location:

before getting my backing pressed and loading the whole thing up:

I got my customer t-shirt quilt trimmed and made a label for it and Paula came down to pick it up around NOON.

I didn’t start quilting on the HST, because there were thunder showers on and off all day….so I kept my long arm machine OFF….but spent the afternoon drafting out a new pattern and figuring out how many 4 patches I need (A TON!) and half square triangles (half a TON!) for the new pattern.

****************************************

I spent most of the day on Tuesday (6/2) quilting on the HST:

and starting to put the binding on my One Block Wonder quilt.  I got a label made before starting:

and Michael thought he should have gotten credit on the label as well…and you know something?  He is RIGHT!!!  He did the layout for this quilt and it definitely wasn’t easy getting those blocks to blend into each other….and it took a long time! I should have given that label more thought.  Anyway, I then began sewing the binding to the back of the quilt.

I didn’t really think I would get it done all in one day (the quilt is about 100’’ by 100’’), but I eventually finished the back and started sewing on the front:

I just kept plodding along, and low and behold…before Michael even left for the movies, I had a TOTALLY FINISHED QUILT:

I cannot tell you just how thrilled I am that this quilt is done.

I video chatted with Janice Wednesday morning (6/3), then left to vote, visit Second Chance (a local thrift store for a Women’s Shelter), and the grocery store before heading back out for my massage.

Michael got home from golf shortly after I was home (with a 91, so he was kind of pleased), and after talking for a bit, he took off with Freya for the dog park, and I put together a new recipe for sandwich bread.  While the dough was rising for the second time….Michael and I headed to the ball field for hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner…and we also looked for the bricks we bought to help the ball field get money in the beginning of construction, and to honor our parents:

Michael packed the car and I headed to quilting on Thursday (6/4).  I am working on another QoV at quilting and began to cut the horizontal sashing to put my rows together….so hopefully, in another couple of weeks, I will have another top.  I hope to invite 3 veterans to our luncheon in November and I want to have at least 5 quilts for them to choose from….I have 2 completely fnished quilts…..1 more on the to-be-bound pile….and 2 tops where all of the blocks are made and I am beginning to sew them into rows….so I think I am in good shape for November.

We had some show and tell:

and I was thrilled to show my One Block Wonder, which garnered a lot of good comments, but more importantly, may have inspired some others to think about making one :~).  I was asked about teaching a class…and I said no to that, but indicated that I would be happy to help anyone who wanted to work on it, on Thursdays.

I was home by around 2:30 after a few stops, and spent a bit of time looking through my patterns in search of a new project.  We are having a 2 day retreat in a couple of weeks and I really think it deserves a new project!

Dave and Laura picked us up before 6 PM and we headed to BREWS for dinner, and to check out their Karaoke.  It was fairly noisy while people were singing, and I vowed to check out Karaoke at the golf club to see if it was any better.

Your One Block Wonder is absolutely FABULOUS! Congratulations to you and Michael for persevering and completing this quilt! Loved all of your Show and Tell, especially the first quilt with the geranium (?) floral fabric. The bricks with your parents' names are such a great way to remember them. I miss your mom and dad.
