Totally finished quilt - QoV stars, Leila quilt top, Totally finished quilt from Pat

During a roundtable with farmers at the White House earlier this month, Donald Trump blatantly turned a blind eye to the affordability crisis, making up the bald-faced lie that prices at the grocery store are "way down" while also claiming that inflation is "essentially gone."

I can't believe people still believe this stuff, all you have to do is buy groceries and gas to know it's not true..

Michael and I are going on an Alaskan cruise with BG and other friends in September of 2026.  We have been dragging our feet getting everything done for this cruise that we need to, so I spent several hours on Friday morning (12/26) cleaning out my emails to find the ones that tell us what we need to do!  To help me out, my honey delivered a smurfy breakfast to my computer:

After that I had a LOVELY and wonderful and LONG talk with Mary Lee!!!  I think we got most things covered before I had to hang up to help my honey with some Alaska stuff.  We had another long conversation with someone from the cruise line….and are now all set with everything we can do up to this point.  We still don’t have our flights….but that’s a worry for another day :~).

It was 2:30 PM before I finally got a chance to sew…I started to put the binding on a QoV that I finished months ago:

And continued to work on that until dinner….here’s my project just before I quit:

Notice anything about my binding?  Yes…it’s changed color…when you see the front of this quilt, you’ll understand why.

Michael and I ate our restaurant leftovers for dinner and my hands had recovered enough that I could get in a bit of knitting in the evening.

Michael left for golf around 9 AM on Saturday (12/27), and I headed to the studio, to continue to work on my binding.  I finished up on the first side, and changed thread to add the binding to the top side of the quilt:

I paused to talk to Pam for 1-1/2 hours, then it was back to the grindstone…and by 3 PM, I had a totally finished quilt:

Notice the binding? Now you know why I switched colors halfway through...I just thought it would look better to do blue on the blue side and red on the red side!

My honey came home shortly afterwards with a 94 and 1 birdie….so he was relatively happy…but the bad news is, his regular Saturday partner isn’t going to be able to golf as much in 2026 due to the cost.  Michael totally understands and they may switch to a Friday round.

We spent a bit of time looking at Alaska stuff before dinner, which was outstanding!!!  Our neighbor makes tons of pierogis every year with her daughter at Christmas time, and she generally gifts us a package…..they were absolutely heavenly (potato & cheese)!

I knit for a bit in the evening, while watching another Christmas movie with my honey….can you guess?

ree

Yes….it’s AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER.

We slept late and did a big fry up (first in a LONG time):

on Sunday (12/28), so I didn’t get to the studio until early afternoon.  I wasted way too much time starching and ironing and cutting blues that weren’t right for my latest quilt….I cut the pieces into the right sizes for my scrap quilts, but finally found one that was at least dark enough and got binding made.  That was it before Michael came home from grocery shopping with a salad from Zaxby’s and that was dinner.

And 2 more quilts......

-this top was finished by Leila at a retreat....I'm sorry I've had it so long and haven't posted

ree

And Pat's quilt for George.....finished and on the bed....gorgeous!!!
