tRUMP has unveiled plans for a gleaming new 90,000 square foot ballroom at the White House, with a price tag of around $200 million. Funded by Trump himself and private donors, construction is set to begin in September and will replace the current East Wing, offering enough space to host 650 guests—far more than any previous White House facility. The extravagant gold-tinged design is said to echo his taste at Mar-a-Lago, prioritizing opulence as the centerpiece of Trump’s second-term renovations.
This announcement comes as tRUMP urges regular Americans to endure painful sacrifices, citing the impact of his sweeping new tariffs. Independent projections show these tariffs will shrink GDP, cut wages, and cost the average household tens of thousands over time. At the same moment he’s pushing these economic pressures, Trump signed into law sweeping cuts to social programs like Medicaid and SNAP, stripping away support for millions of vulnerable families through his so-called 'big beautiful bill'.

My honey got picked up for golf at 6:30 AM on Monday (8/4)…I never even heard him leave! I cleaned up the kitchen and kicked off the dishwasher before heading to the studio to trim Linda’s quilt and get a bit caught up on my emails (I am so behind!).
I got a newish customer quilt loaded up (this one from Sara):

before Linda came by to pick up her quilt. She had a small piece of cake…and as we were standing at her car talking, Matt (our computer guy) went driving by and called out a hello. I asked if he wanted a piece of cake…and took one out to him as well. Michael was upstairs and kept hearing the front door open and close and asked what was going on…and I told him I was giving out pieces of cake. He asked if it was just to random people walking by and I said YES :~).
I was working on the binding for another quilt all day, and by dinnertime…it was all done:

Notice those cornerstones.....something I do RARELY!!!!

It was a rainy, gloomy day when we got up on Tuesday (8/5)…I can’t complain too much because we have not turned our air conditioning on for the past 2-1/2 days…..YAY!
Michael said if I wanted to quilt, I had better jump on it in the morning, as thunder showers might be moving in…..so that’s where I was all morning:

I got the quilting done by early afternoon, and made brown binding and started to sew it on one of my newest Beds=Dreams quilts:

Michael left just after 5 PM for his monthly Mustang Owners meeting, and Iris came over for a visit. I heard about their trip to Ecuador (to visit Mario’s family) and of course Iris and I talked about the tulip/butterfly quilts. The most exciting thing to happen was that we discussed the possibility of Iris making a quilt for herself after the girl’s quilts are done!!!! A potential new quilter……YAYAYAYAY!!!!!

Rain…rain…rain….another gloomy Wednesday (8/6)….BUT, the windows are all open and the fresh air is coming in….that’s all delightful! I headed back to my sewing machine and was done with the binding on 1 side of my Beds=Dreams quilt by early afternoon. My honey tried to get out and golf a bit, but only made it through 3-1/2 holes before being driven off of the course by a steady downpour. I don’t know what was wrong with us, but we both took LONG naps in the afternoon….hmmm…maybe the weather?
I got Sara's quilt cleaned up and off of my frame:

before I was finally up and back at my machine in the late afternoon, and finished another Beds=Dreams quilt:

And 10 years ago....
*** Last night my hubby asked me if I had seen the dog bowl....I told him ''I didn't know she could''. ***
