President Donald Trump on Wednesday took his first flight aboard the new Air Force One, a luxury Boeing jet donated by the government of Qatar. The aircraft, an unconditional gift estimated to be worth about $400 million, has raised legal, ethical and national security concerns. It comes as Trump faces renewed scrutiny over claims that he is profiting from the presidency after new financial disclosures showed his wealth has soared since retaking office and his Florida resorts have posted record-breaking revenue gains. Read more.
And this is so sickening I don't even have words:Trump’s handpicked U.S. Attorney stood behind a podium in another part of Washington, and announced a felony indictment against a 67-year-old American Olympian for touching paint.
Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host turned U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, told reporters today that a grand jury had indicted David “Davey” Hearn, a three-time Olympic canoeist, on a single felony count of destruction of property. The charge carries a maximum sentence of ten years in prison. The alleged crime: reaching into the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on June 19 and touching a piece of the new blue liner that was already peeling off the bottom.
But the people who did millions of dollars of damage to the Capitol on January 6th? PARDONED!!!!!

I had lab work Wednesday morning (7/1) before video chatting with Janice at 9 AM.
Michael left for 9 holes of golf around 9:30 (it will be WAY TOO HOT for 18 holes today!) After Janice and I were done, I headed upstairs to put together sandwich bread dough:

then back downstairs to work the rest of the day on binding….

and because of that, I ended up with TWO totally finished quilts:

Michael had bought a take and bake pizza from Harris Teeter, and we doctored it up with pepperoni and mushrooms, and it was pretty good for dinner:

He watched TV for a bit after that, while Iris came for a visit and I got to cut some fabric so that I would have a project to work on at quilting….
And I forgot to post this picture....I finished all of the blocks for my Thursday project last week...and even got them all sewn together...but then it was time to bring it all home and add borders...and that got done over the weekend:

Michael loaded up my car and I headed out to quilting on Thursday (7/2). The pastor’s 13 year old daughter has been coming and getting quilting lessons from another member Vicki, but Vicki had to be out this week, so she asked me to help Rachel. We talked about threading her machine correctly, and then pressing her fabric before doing any cutting. She cut a bunch of 2-1/2 inch strips, and after practicing her quarter inch seam, she started to sew them together for 4 patches.
She was a thoroughly delightful and attentive young woman and it was a pleasure to help her. In addition to my 2 pinwheel quilts….which got a really nice reception…there was other beautiful show and tell:

-Diane is doing a sewing themed row by row...these are pin cushions

-extra credit...pieced back!!!

-and again!!!!

-Janet got the first top done from the arrow class I taught....isn't it great?!!?!?

-Diane got this appliqued just in time for the 4th of July

When I got home from quilting, I spent 2 hours putting together a blog entry….and let me tell you…..my computer chair is hard as a rock…and my butt was VERY sore by the time I finished!!

I baked brownies before heading downstairs on Friday (7/3) and I had to do quite a bit of clean-up on my sewing tables before anything else. They had gotten a bit out of control over the last 2 weeks when I was trying to totally finish the 2 pinwheel quilts.
After that, Michael and I weighed in on a new configuration for the pinwheel quilt:

We wanted to make sure that you would be able to see the pink pinwheels against the black…even when looking at a distance…they won't stand out as much as they did on the last 2 quilts, but you will still be able to see them, so we decided it was good, so I spent a bit of time cutting out fabric for that.
I also stitched out 2 rainbow hearts:

like the one I wear everyday, for 2 people we met at our last cooking class.
I headed upstairs around 5 PM so that Michael and I could start to get our desserts ready for the evening. We had done a test on Thursday night….we loaded up 4 tart shells with pastry cream, and then ate them after 1 hour, and 2 hours and 3 hours (Iris came for a quick visit and she got to eat the 4th one!) to see if the shells held up without being too soggy, so we knew we could fill them before people got there.
Susan and Josh and Dave and Linda came at 7 PM and we played 2 new games…..TELESTRATIONS AFTER DARK…I’ll just say that one was interesting….and BLANK SLATE. We don’t keep score on TELESTRATIONS, but I think Dave was the big winner with BLANKSLATE. Everyone loved the desserts:

One of my guests made a very good point...I LOVE these brownies, and think they are absolutely perfect....but if someone doesn't like dark chocolate, they probably wouldn't like them at all. I tend to forget that since I LOVE dark chocolate....but definitely something to think about when I give out the recipe. I need to warn people of that. Just like even if something only has a bit of coffee flavor, most poeple love it, but not me since I absolutely detest coffee!

Michael headed out to watch the golf cart parade Saturday morning (7/4):

while I continued to cut for my next pinwheel. It is taking me a lot longer than usual, because for one of the colors, I am not cutting from yardage, but I am going through my scraps, trying to find ones that are big enough to cut what I need…and that takes time. I was FINALLY done getting everything together by mid-afternoon.

And I decided to pause and get a quilt loaded up, but I only got the backing cut and loaded. It was very wrinkly and I decided to spritz with a lot of water and let it stay rolled up overnight to let the wrinkles relax.
Michael and I had salads and leftover pizza for dinner and played cribbage in the evening (which, of course, he won!!!)
