Waxhaw 4th of July parade

Happy 4th of July – although with the passage of the ‘’big, beautiful bill’’ it will be a very sad day for many, many people in this country. The interesting thing is, many things in the bill do not go into effect until after the mid-tern elections....or until a new president comes in, in 2028....way to screw the new person, and once again, dodge any responsibility for your actions....tRUMP is a master at that!

Michael and I participated in the Waxhaw parade in the morning:

and didn’t get home until after NOON.

I read for a bit when I got home before hitting the studio to get Sandy’s quilt off of the rails:

and get all of the bobbin ends woven in (there were a lot as it is a very large quilt!)

I could NOT find hotdogs in our freezer (I know they’re there, but oh well), so I had my first bratwurst…..courtest of Kay & Pete’s freezer (they brought down freezer stuff the day before their move).  And my honey picked out the original SUPERMAN movie with Chris Reeves as a special treat to watch in the evening.

Michael left for golf really early on Saturday (7/5), while I cleaned up the kitchen and then made Bailey’s Mousse for later, before hitting the studio.  I got Sandy’s quilt trimmed (quite a feat with the amount of fabric piles I currently have out on my tables) before loading up another customer quilt.  I worked on that in the afternoon:

before getting cleaned up and heading out to a BBQ restaurant with friends.  I had a brisket sandwich:

while Michael had the brisket plate special:

before heading back to Ed and Carol’s house for drinks and games:

-Ed, my honey, Mark, Carol and Diane

It was a lovely evening and after 10 PM when we finally got home.

Michael picked wild blueberries Sunday morning (7/6):

while I went back to quilting on Joyce’s quilt (with some sleepy company):

and by dinnertime I was done!

Michael left Monday morning (7/7) early for golf….I never even heard him get up.  I picked up Sally at 9 AM and we headed out to breakfast.  I think we solved a lot of the problems of the world while we were together…..it is always lovely to go out to breakfast together!

After that I loaded up one of my Beds=Dreams quilt:

and started to quilt it:

Michael was home very late for golf as they had a bit of a send off for one of the guys who is moving to Florida.  And I think the heat really got to him as he was exhausted all evening and we went to bed early for a change.

And 10 years ago.....

And, based on my fabric stash comment, I heard a true story from a friend, who is good friends with a yarn store owner:

It seems that Wendy (the store owner) experienced a couple coming into Yummi Yarns here in BVL. Somehow Wendy's usual fun, getting-to-know-people conversation with them turned to the eternal yarn stash dilemma - the husband wondering if the wife needed anything more since she had such a stash already.  That prompted the wife to pause a bit while she continued to shop and then, a few minutes later, respond back to the husband, "By the way, now that we are on the subject...when I am dead and gone, do not pack up all my yarn and take it to the dump or to Good Will!  The husband laughed, "Don't worry, Honey! I plan to use that yarn stash to attract my next wife!"

Replying to

It's because Michael is a member of the Charlotte Mustang Club!  He was the lead car in the Charlotte St Patrick's Day parade and the Grand Marshall rode in his car.  At the last meeting of the club, they asked for volunteers...and since it was local/Waxhaw, Michael wanted to do it.  It was fun!
